Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

It appeared to be, but that might be a smokescreen and misdirection. Something about it still doesn't seem right to me.
Can't see what that would achieve except confusion. The hints were quite strong.

It also matches the earlier leak which said the some of the lower tier cards would be branded GTX.

Not just that, but NVIDIA is a US company.
Many board partners arent though. But they buy the GPUs from Nvidia in $USD and therefore to minimise risk sell their final cards in USD. It then directly ties in with the price they have paid to Nvidia and also the $ is seen as a stable currency for a global commodity, it's standard practice.

You really think a reference blower (which I assume you mean an FE) would be better for cases with not great airflow?

My case is big, but not that many fans.

I always thought reference coolers where loud.

the thing with the reference cards is they take the heat and remove it from your case. (but no they are not that quiet!!!)
When you said limited airflow i assumed you meant because you were limited to a very small case....... if you are not however and if your case is big, but just without fans there is 1 obvious solution ...................

(buy more fans for it! - and if there is nowhere to fit them, then tbh buy a new case!!! i think my case was £30 from overclockers and whilst it only came with a couple of fans it has heaps of mounting points.). it would be a pretty awful case to not even have fan mounting points however even if they are not installed. my cooler master case in my arcade from must be 10 years ago now has at least 3 points to mount fans - front, back and top.

Personally i would never beholden to a specific gpu just because of a case.. you really do not have to go mad as i said above..... very quick look and this would probably do

I think he means Navi will be 1080 performance and cost around £250.

judging by the current theme of things, it will be priced at £450 and just called something different, rinse and repeat.

I don't understand this. THe cards are manufactured in Taiwan, aren't they? And the value of the NT$ against the pound has barely changed.

All component is sold in USD, irrelevant of source of manufacturer.

A disaster??? really??? Even though that part of AMD has been consistently profitable??

Seriously guys, this HAS to stop. Just because AMD don't have the fastest GPU out. People seem to assume the company is sinking/disaster/no hope.

For a long time AMD + ATI was worth LESS than what AMD paid for ATI , They also sold off there handset division to Qualcom in 2009 and look how important mobile graphics are today in the mobile space, there has been a few other blunders as well.

LOL something like that exactly what people have been asking for. Highend performance for £250-300.

Exactly, 1080 performance at £250 and less power use would be a blinding lil card !!

Ha, this is far more likely xD

Since when is 1080 performance £250?
1080 are £449 - £499
VEGA 64 are £449 - £549

Am not understanding where £250 comes from?

a lot of assumption and presuming current rumours are true on my part

Well Navi is rumoured to be a Polaris replacement and the ballpark price of a RX480/580
is £250 or so . If its a slot in replacements I don't see Navi shaking up pricing unless the 2060 is trash.

Now a Navi chip at £250-300 that performs like a 1080ti while a 2060 at the same price only giving you 1080 performance, that would send ripples though Nvidia's pricing

I didn't want to quote from a page ago but while not many agree that AMD buying ATI was a great idea can you imagine how nvidia would be behaving if they had a complete monopoly? I doubt we'd even be beyond 980's and they'd be £800 each and the ti would be £1k. While their top end can't match nvidia's efforts it does at least keep the green team semi honest.
