Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

I hope not! If they don't do a stock blower, then maybe a 3rd party will.

If Nvidia & AMD stopped making blower reference cards it would be a good thing, that said there's no reason why they can't do both.

We've seen companies like MSI release cheaper blower cards with Pascal & Vega so Nvidia will get a lot more direct sales by doing twin fan designs. I bet a lot of Titan buyers will like that. It'll also push partner companies to make better non-reference cards which will be good for us.

2080 - $699
2080 ti - $899

But that's dollars.

Dollars to Pound conversion is:

£548.93 and £705.99

Sounds about right.

No way in heckfire is the UK price going to follow exchange rate conversion due to import, VAT and the "Island tax" as I call it. It's going to be closer to a 1:1 numerical match, we'd be lucky to see £700 and £900 respectively.

For me one of the main attractions of the Nvidia cards is the possibility of the Titan HSF on lower end cards. It really is one of the best HSF available.

I read this all the time but I never fully understand. What is an blower reference card? As I always buy whatever model is the cheapest.

I can only see launch prices holding if the cards are incredible for mining, gaming and professional tasks.

Remember you have to always subtract the early adopter and pre order fomo TAX for small markets like the UK :p

Nice explanation here.

Blower cards suck air in and blow hot air out the back of the case, whilst the AIB cards are the ones you see with big fans that circulate air that's already inside the case, and if your cooling is good they generally perform better and are quieter and less like a jet engine.

Thanks

learnt interesting thing this morning , seems Nvidia didn't give AIB a lot of time to engineer their own cards - lot will be using reference with aftermarket coolers ... unless one or two managed to squeeze in resources and favour ...

would explain why leaks of very poor renderings are out , whether they are leaks or given out ... every card bought that is reference design to AIB gives more cash to nvidia then AIB partners ....

hope im wrong but i dont think so

I can confirm. AIBS only received the cards very recently. Who or what will be being released at launch I'm not sure but the timeframe is definitely very tight. NVIDIA are playing everything very close to the chest as per usual.

Can we just take a step back, take a breath, forget about how the channel has tried to "prepare us" for this, and think about how utterly ridiculous these prices are, if true? Am I taking crazy pills thinking people are actually considering paying these price? Has the world gone mad?
