Hi All,

It's easy when you want to spend a lot on a PC but I'm not really clued up on the lower/midrange market. I want to play WOW at 1080p with nice settings, I will worry about building a beast PC later but with that in mind, I would not object to somewhat future proofing myself with a decent MOBO/PSU.

I already have the case its a Fractal ITX Core 500 case, keyboard and mouse, don't need help with monitor. SSD is a must, I also don't mind if you spec some parts that take me out the target range on the assumption I may snag them 2nd hand. Thanks in advance. I believe my case can take a full atx PSU but would rather stick with small one.

Edit: There is a 1060 Mini for sale in MM for £125 which may be a good option?

Thanks for that orbital there are a lot of different ways I could exceed those recommended specs and that looks like a pretty solid suggestion. I'll wait for a couple of others then pick and choose from them!

Not a crappy Kolink psu though. That supposed 500w psu only has 360w on the 12v rail and a warning from Kolink on the label that maximum power is not to exceed 400w 24/7. I know theoretically it should power that system but the lack of any quality is shocking. I wouldn't touch one with a bargepole.

ends justifies the means , technically still over budget .
'and you cant put whole of Kolink PSU as generic 'crappy' as their Continuum is regarded very highly a better then most - not to mention the amount of mining rigs that model powers . But their budget versions are completely different kettle of fish .

best bet, in all honestly . Dell Optiplex i5/i7 and house in a bigger case, PSU like Formula 450w and a gtx 1050ti/1060 . would save a fair bit of cash . seems some refurb ones go for about £260 with i7 and 16gb of ram plus windows...

Just letting you know that I am not picking a arguement with you. You know very well that I am a pain when it comes to psu's. :p

The Continuum should be much better as it's a much more expensive psu. Still wouldn't touch one though. Jonnyguru gave the 1050w version 8.4/10 and the 1500w 8.3/10. Tech powerup gave the 1200w version 8.2/10. Hardly stellar scores, mediocre at best I would say plus you only get 5 years warranty which is pretty poor for the price. There are far better psu's at similar prices as that level.

True, been trying to get the rep to send some basic kits out , know they won't have Stella reviews but will be interesting to see against the likes of units similar or slightly costlier units (£5)

OCUK really needs to stock Riotoro units ... Good £15 off Focus units, that would fly off the shelves , but then screw the rest over haha . Think they are in theory cheaper then Formula ones

for your budget, preowned is the way to go imo :)
you'd get a better spec overall.

for example:
i'd probably get the i5 8400 + Asrock H310M-ITX/ac (new)
rest on mm -
16gb ddr4 for ~£100-110
1060 3gb/6gb for ~£125-150 depending on which version (recommend 6gb version)
a decent quality psu for £35
a cheap cooler £10
480-525gb ssd for £35-40

I know what will happen, i'll stay stuff it and just go high end, that's what happened the last two times anyway :D Not in a rush so I'll browse the MM daily as well until I get fed up waiting
