Only because they did a cheap 780Ti (£259) https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/nvidia-geforce-780ti-graphics-card-pre-order-25895-del-ocuk-2172926

and then the 8Pack 980 (£350) https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/kf...-rainbow-six-siege-34999-overclockers-2299568

There was also a 980Ti for £300 https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/pn...8-oc-graphics-card-29999-overclockers-2509480

Based on that history hopefully there might be some chance of the 1080 (Ti) being reduced to a nice price in the near future !

You maybe lucky and he knock some down to £650 :p

If the new 2080 is fast as or faster then a 1080ti then I guess the price of the 1080ti will have to come down..

You've got to be ray-tracing!!!!!!!!!!!! You think we will get a 300 quid 1080Ti? You having a ray-trace.

The price performance of 1080Ti is good. I see this being a popular sku for a while so I don't see it changing very much. I have no heads up from nvidia on this though gibbo attended that meeting.

It would certainly set a new precedent if Nvidia were to carry on producing the 10 series with the 20 as a premium end product. Even if a few models were deleted it would answer many of the criticisms on price and shift the built up stock.

I wonder if I should have got that EVGA deal instead of a 2080.
I have far too much faith in these cards looking past the negative backlash. Primarily hoping that this new chip truly has something that goes beyond the norm of cuda x clock to estimate performance. DLSS looks good, but as that will only be in a handful of games I cannot use that to justify less or equal standard performance of the 1080ti.

Have you actually bought a 2080? If you have already, why didn't you wait for reviews and proper benchmarks?

From an economic stand point it doesn't make sense to wait on benchmarks. As others have pointed out if it proves to be a waste of money it can always be cancelled. I admit NVIDIA did not look out for the consumer this time around, but they have standards to meet. With that said I know they wouldn't release a 2080 worse than the 1080ti. That doesn't make what has happened better by any means. It is what it is though and we are ultimately limited on choices. What I do know is I need a graphics card as mine decided to stop working ironically a week an half ago and I myself have planned for nearly 4 years to get a card from this generation. At the time I didn't know it would take this long though, nor be this much of a twist.

I get you want a new card but given these won't be sent until some time in October, what will you do inthe mean time with no card for a number of weeks?

I'd need to see reviews before splashing out 700+ quid for a GPU.

Is it October for the 2080? I've been under the impression it was to be September 20th. That is a long time to wait unfortunately. At the moment I am using my intel's IGP.

would have been nice and what you would expect but nvidia just shifted the cost goalposts. There's no really viable upgrade for many. I bought a GTX980ti for £350 2 years ago as couldn't justify the cost of the GTX1080 for the performance over the GTX980ti. So ive been patient waiting for the next upgrade the last 2 years

Hoped once the GTX2080/ti came out the GTX1080ti would fall down in price for something more reasonable like its predecessor, this is what many probably thought. Now were all stuck expected to pay the same money for the cards we rejected 1-2 years ago. Why would anyone whos waited already 1-2 years + want to buy old tech for the same price? Its either that or bend over for the new cards. So itll be more of the waiting game for me. The gtx980ti is still a beast of a card.

It really is the principal for many. I've got a surplus wage per month (assuming spent nothing all month but the basics) that could cover the cost of a GTX2080ti (well, the £1,050 one) but out of principle I wont pay it. Their taking the michael.
