Im having a bit of an issue, so far this is 2 computers that keep waking from sleep when on my desk. im starting to think it could be the surge protcter or some of black magic. This has never been an issue and now its happened to two pcs when on my desk and plugged into the same socket. Now i looked at event viewer and it woke up at 6am according to event viewer and app the events in application/system hold no salient information except this, does anyone know what this means? this happened almost exactly the time of the pc waking up.

Antivirus or similar waking the pc up using the timer. You can set programs to run at a particular time, a further setting can include the ability to wake the machine to enable the program to run at that time.

In the advanced setting of the power plans I think you can specify that resume from sleep is disabled for scheduled events. Might be worth looking at that.

There could be myriad reasons, but when this happened to me I found that modifying the wake from sleep options for the network adapter solved my problem. Open up device manager and use the power management tab for your network adapters to disable the option “Allow this device to wake up the computer”.

EDIT: Never mind.
The only events that seem relivent is this:

The system time has changed to ‎2018‎-‎08‎-‎24T05:03:02.500000000Z from ‎2018‎-‎08‎-‎23T23:06:57.587830400Z.
Change Reason: System time synchronized with the hardware clock.

That was the first system event since i put it to sleep the night before, could it be the clock updating waking my pc?

Yeah that's a symptom, not a cause.
Its just weird that there are no actual events that point to anything, this is the only event mentioning the wake up

The system has returned from a low power state.

Ok well this sucks, 6am this morning and the pc woke up again! There is no reason behind this i can see! The first Event Viewer entry when it woek up is this:

Certificate for local system with Thumbprint 41 09 99 12 7b 85 00 17 56 da f9 5e b0 fd 9a a5 21 97 db 22 is about to expire or already expired.

Now i have looked at my certificates and found the certificate and its listed as "xbl client ipsec issuing ca" which seems to be Xbox Live, deleted it and i will see what happens tomorow but i suspect it isnt the problem since it expired in january.....

That definitely won't be the reason. The first thing to write to the system log isn't the thing that wakes it up. You either need to keep checking the power troubleshooter as that is the only thing logging state changes. You can also run powercfg -lastwake from a command prompt for the same information. That said, power troubleshooter often logs the wrong device anyway so it's of limited use.

Ultimately this is likely going to be network, keyboard or mouse related as they are the cause in 99.9% of cases. Just start disabling the "allow this device to wake the computer" on them in device manager until it stops waking up and then you'll know which device is the issue.

had it for a while on my laptop, was annoying ended up not leaving it on sleep at all to stop it but not really fixing the problem more masking.
I dont think its an update thing as had it for ages through many updates both windows 8 and 10 updates.
