Have 1080ti gone up in price ?

They most certainly have, another major online retailer had some very good prices a week ago. Perhaps they've seen an uplift in sales following the uncertainty around the RTX cards?

Or not enough buying the new kit so needed to make the decision an easier one for people. Surely g-rays are enough to convince anyone?

Madness. Nvidia can clearly do what they want these day. Wouldn't be surprised if they re release maxwell at inflated RRP just because they can.
I've never heard of a previous gen GPU going up in price after the release of a new gen.

1080ti is currently the bang for buck high end king and when 20 series hit the shelves @ crazy prices, even more so IMHO

The masses don't care for ray tracing, and given current distribution 1080ti stock, prices are going to rise steeply on them, even more so as stock levels dwindle over the months.

Gibbo did warn people prices for the 10XX cards where going to go up

Yeah but no one listens!

Still on the hunt for a deal, best I could find was Asus Turbo, but the deal would only allow me to hit £589-£599 to end user and to be honest was not worth it as though it would sell it would not sell by the volume Asus wanted me to take, so turned it away.

To be honest supply seems to be tightening so as the days go by, a deal seems less likely, I've not given up but I said weeks and weeks ago when we were doing 1070's at £329 you would be silly not to buy as unlikely it would be repeated.

Can I ask why the 10 series are going up though? They're ancient in technology terms and should be half what they're selling for at this point in their timeline going by previous generations?

You'll be under NDA I'm sure, I reckon the 20 series aren't what people are hoping they are and nvidia know it. Come benchmark day then release day the 10 series will still be selling like hot cakes....

Because in the past month AIB's and Resellers were making little money, or even a loss. So now I simply assume they are fedup of not making money, as such the margins are going back to normal levels as stock piles have reduced.

So basically they were in a rush to get rid of stock under the presumption it wouldn't compete well with the new gen and now realise it does. :D

Yes but most likely also stock became aged from when mining demand dropped, so it was flushed out to turn it back into cash.

Oh well, looks like going the 2nd hand route is the way forward from now on if this is the state of things now and into the future
