Hi all,

I need your help. I have got a problem with plugging the wires on the motherboard. I have had a look on the manual for the motherboard, it didn't tell you where the front panel wire goes. I have got 8 wires for the front LED lights to come on. I want to know where I can plugs the front panel wires to go on the motherboard?

The name of the motherboard I have got is: ASRock 980DE3/U3S3 Rev2.0 AM3+ AMD Motherboard.

Thanks in advance

Do you mean you need to wire in the power, reset, hdd led etc? There's a diagram on page 22, you just need to match them up making sure to get the + and - the right way round.

On page 12, they connect to item 24 which is along the bottom of the mobo as you look at it.

No, I mean the wires for the 4 blue LED Lights.

Here is the picture if you want to know what I am talking about.

Are you sure the LED lights are supposed to plug into your Motherboard? My LED lights plug into a LED controller that comes with the case, maybe yours has the same? Do you have a manual for the case, maybe that will things up a little.

From those wires I can see there, 1 set is for USB2 headers on your motherboard and the other set is for the front panel audio, mic / ear etc, all of the data and ground wires are USB, usually these all come in a block, ive I have seen them as individual wires how yours are, you will need your motherboard manual to find out which wires goto which pins, if you don't have it anymore then im sure you can download a PDF of it from the ASrock site.

Edit: this is from your manual:

Thank you for your advice. I have found which ports that the LED lights wires and USB wires goes but there is a little problem. I dont know which wires I should use to go to which pins.

Here it is:

Cable 1:

Ear R+
Ear R-
Mic VDD
Ear Gnd
Mic Gnd
Ear L-
Mic Data
Mic L+

Cable 2:

Shield
Gnd 2
VCC 2
Data-1
Data+1
Data-2
Data+2
VCC1
Gnd 1

If you could tell me which name for these wires that I should use to plug to the pins on the motherboard for both cables, I will then find these wires and plug them to the pins on the motherboard.

Cable 2:

OK so lets start with the top row of pins and call this row 2 going by the USB_8_9 image above

VCC 2 - USB Power (same row of pins that all the other 2's you plug in)
Data-2 - plug into P-9 as per picture
Data+2 - Plug into P+9 as per picture
Gnd 2 - is self explanatory, just make sure its on the same row as data +/- 2 and VCC 2
Shield - not sure where this should go, maybe plug it into dummy

Lower row of pins:
VCC1 - USB Power
Data-1 - P-8
Data+1 P+8
Gnd 1 - GND

Thank you very much for your help as it is much appreciate. So what about the cable 1? which wires will go to which pins?

That one is a bit more tricky, because your labelling on the pins is strange, i'll have to have a look deeper into you manual for that one, the USB was easy.

I guess this is where I should plugs the wires to the pins but I am not 100% sure:

Mic L+ - MIC2_L
Mic R+ - MIC2_R
MIC R- - OUT2_R
MIC L- - OUT2_L
MIC GND - GND

Please let me know if you know which wires goes to which pins.

Thanks!

sorry, been having trouble with my computer lately, so lost track, yes that looks about right.

but that still leave these 2:

Mic VDD
Mic Data

Im guessing one will be mic_ret which is probably mic return and the other mic VDD to presence, if it doesn't work, swap them around.
