Hey, my girlfriend didn't realise that her tax ran out due to bad wording on a lease document saying it would be covered. There was a sign on the car, the car is taxed again now but just want to know if that means any fines will be coming in, or if that was just a warning?

Thanks!

sure you will be fine.

seen some of those sitting on abandoned cars around croydon.

not sure if it's bored pensioners checking online and sticking notes on cars or what.

There was an un-taxed and un-MOTed car sitting at the side of the road opposite me for about 2 years before the owner finally had it scrapped. Was reported to the council and DVLA multiple times by multiple people, no one cared.

It seems like as long as it isn't driven through an ANPR camera nothing gets done. So I doubt anything will happen.

Year before last, due to a few health problems I forgot to tax my car for two months. I didn't drive for the first month as I was too ill but was driving it for the second. I did a lot of journeys down an A road with average speed cameras. I didn't get any warning or fine. When I realised I called up the DVLA immediately and the woman on the phone let me off the first month but made me start the new tax year from the second month. A lucky escape, I thought.
