Anyway for me 40-50 voted remain in 2016 but now the result is in think that it's probably the least damaging path, in the longer run, to leave the EU.

I expect the shorter to medium term consequence of leaving the EU to almost universally be to the countries detriment as a whole.

Just out of interest though, what do you define as long term?

I think the result should have only been inacted if it was a high majority result, e.g., 60%+ for either remain or leave. 50/50 is far too close for something like this.

.. mind you I also think everyone's vote power should have been weighted by how old they were. The fact is the closer you are to dieing the less important your vote is ultimately. It's the young people who weren't even able to vote who have been screwed over by not being able to as easily freely move within the EU and go and work there.

So if either side needs 60+ both sides only got 50 ish what outcome do you want?

Because if we need 60+ to remain then we couldn't stay with vote result we got even if reversed and remain won by a narrow margin

If you get some Google Fu going, you will find lots of intellectually superior individuals who were fully Remain were actually in favour of the referendum.

Because like the PM at the time, they didn't believe such a thing could possibly happen.

I want to know how many people voted Leave out of nothing but spite. That's the statistic I want to know.
