you win the euro millions tonight: your shopping list.

I'd hire @mrk to clean my old knackered Mini in hotpants every day, and park a Polo GTI outside @Housey 's place in a huge perspex box so every day he wakes up he can experience the displeasure of what could have been.

I probably had the same buys 6 years ago -

A detached house with an outside recording studio the size of a small pub.
A second hand van for carrying music gear around.
Loads of different guitars, basses, keyboards, drums etc as if I hadn't got enough already.

right guys, say your lucky enough to win the euro millions tonight. whats the first things you'd be shopping for?

mine would be

large plot of land to build my own house. something around 5/6 bedrooms with a games room and cinema and an underground garage the size of the house. :) ideally with enough height to have a ramp down there.

second on the list would be a few motors. Q7 v12 tdi for the other half and possibly an evo for myself.

and finally off on hollibobs for a few weeks to figure out what to do with the rest of my life

problem with building your own home is it will be in the middle of nowhere. open target for thieves, etc. just buy a large house in the west end with a driveway big enough for 4-6 cars. garages are overrated. stick the rest into investments/passive income sources.

i wouldn't bother with Glasgow though. i'd be buying in Vancouver and same goes for investments. i'd just buy a lot of apartments/houses/commercial plots around vancouver and rent them out. once you travel you will realise how much of a cesspit the UK is and the people here are all out for themselves.

buy a few things that don't lose too much value, some antiques.
half of the rest in bitcoin or if not some other crypto currency,

and the other half in some properties around the world to convert into airbnbs, to try and make some revenue over time aswell as places to stay/travel with

I would definately get myself a house somewhere (or a flat), most likely in Prague. And possible some properties around the world as well.

Speaking about lottery wins, would you be allowed to move the money out of UK?

I’d sit down with people who would have an idea what to wisely do with it and see what they recommended, after one hell of a party!

interesting to see this thread still going,

think even after all this time my thoughts would still be the same but certainly out of the UK.

nice little house somewhere out the way Possibly Newzealand or somewhere equally culturally compatible with my values. reasonable climate good people and they drive on the proper side of the road. that said.

A Koineingseigg Agera RS and a ticket to the eurotunnel so I could go drive it on Autobahns to the Ring.

Cocaine and hookers!!

I rekon who ever suggests this, has never done either. Seriously I'm not wealthy and if I wanted I could have both of those things right now. I'm even less likely to go do that when I have a ton of money and a ton of things to live for.

Travel in style around the world for a few years...

Then look at buying some properties around the world

The build a recording studio somewhere at one property...hire loads of session guys and create some music.

A big wad to my coworkers, maybe £50K each. That'll nearly buy a house around here.

Trust funds for the few people I care about, with enough to give them a good income.

Buy a remote uninhabited island, have a comfortable house built on it with a good water supply, sewage system and electricity supply, buy a small boat. Live in peaceful solitude and take the boat to the nearest town every few weeks to buy supplies and say a few words to a few people without getting to know any of them. I'd prefer to stay in the UK, but when I had a look around there didn't seem to be any islands for sale around here. Canada would be a good bet, I think. I found one apparently suitable island in a big lake in Canada on sale for about £50K.

Big games room with a car simulator, fully monty job with the whole setup moving to use mavity to mimic the g-forces to some extent.

Net connection, of course.

Job done.

I think you do get some in Scotland coming onto the market every so often.

If you're able to work remotely and you're happy not being in a hot country then buying an island certainly doesn't need to involve winning the euromillions, as you've found out re: Canada you can get one relatively cheaply. I've seen Scottish Islands go for less than the cost of my London flat too.

Here is one in Finland complete with buildings which perhaps might be less hassle than Canada pre-Brexit:

This one in Scotland needs a bit of development but there are previous (ruined) buildings there so planning permission should be fine and you get 3 Islands rather than just one... nearly 400 acres too and less than the price of a flat in London:
