Hi guys
Does anyone have one of these as I'm curious to know if I can add a third intel 760 nvme ssd to run three in raid 0
Cheers Del
For data speeds of up to 8700MB/s, a Samsung SM961 256G/512G (PCH side) and two Intel 760p SSDs 256G/512G (CPU-attached side) are required for a RAID 0 setup comprising of three NVMe PCIe 3.0 x4 SSDs. - link.
I'm not sure how many PCIe lanes your CPU has but running all 3 SSD's utilising 4 lanes each 'may' eat into your GPU bandwidth.
edit: Well this is interesting - "Having two out of the three SSDs directly connected to the CPU helps avoid DMI bottlenecks, allowing for speeds of up to 8700MB/s." - link.
I wonder what the third SSD connects to?
Cheers MiSJAH I wonder if a Asus rep or Loki could answer that?
The sm961 is an older drive so I wonder if aN updated samsung nvme can be used as the sm961 is not sold anymore? So maybe it will work with the newer 256gb PM981?
Thanks LokiHi @delpy8
Being honest, not 100% sure but let me ask the question of some of the guys at HQ and hopefully they can shed some light on it.
Will reply once I have an answer

Hi @delpy8
I got some feedback from HQ.
In theory YES it is workable and you should be able to put the drives into raid 0
However......We cannot guarantee performance or whether the drives are compatible as we have not mass tested this specific drive.
Appreciate this is not a conclusive answer but would rather tell you exactly what I have from HQ on this.
