Hey all,

So my pc wouldn't turn on, no fans no lights just unresponsive.
So I started unplugging bits trying to turn it on to identify what's causing the problem and i get down to the board with only a cpu in it.

I plug a different psu in and I works.

Plug the old psu in, still works ....

Plug everything back in and still works

Week later same thing, I start with the new psu, nothing....
Then new psu, no ram no gpu... Works
Plug old stuff in, back to working

Week later (today) same again, only it didn't come on. Nothing plugged it (apart from cpu) and neither power supply will coax it into life....

Oldie but have you made sure all the ports are cleared from dust ect.

If nothing is happening yet you know the PSUs work it sounds like the motherboard is goosed :(

Given it all a blast with air and no difference

What is your spec?

Asus prime x370a moxo
Ryzen 1600x
Hyper x savage ddr4 16gb (2x8)
Superflower 850w psu
R9 290x gpu

A power supply tester would be a good idea mate, they go from 10 quids up, I will prolly buy one also to use if a situation like yours comes up, but it looks like if you have good psu, good cable connections but not even a POST then the mobo comes next or the cpu? Dont believe it will post with a bad cpu but dont take my word for it on the cpu issue, prolly not the cpu if the whole week it works just fine.

powersupply tester seems pretty useless, as a multimeter is more useful in general and does the same.
Try changing kettle leads, I've had them go bad before
Each PSU has it's own kettle lead, and if I bridge the pins on the psu it powers up alright.
dodgy on/off button or loose switch lead where it connects into MB?
I was jumping the pins manually to rule that out :/

Not everyone may be comfortable with the multimeter and it's easy to short something if you dont really know what your doing. My option included the tester as a simple plug in and check the voltages :)
