budget mild gaming build for my son (and me)

I don't think a dual slot card will fit in the 3020 sff now that I've been able to look at the mobo.

The case has 2 slot for pcie but the one you would need to use for a 2 slot card appears to be x4 or x1 and not open-eneded.

It is probably possible to get a low profile dual slot 1050 in there, but you would need to modify the case or cut the end of the pcie slot.

Thats what i'm thinking from looking at the images i can find on google anyway.

kind of what i thought but you know the technical words :-) the only slot is too close to the psu, it leaves room above but not below the card which is where it fouls.

which brings me back to thinking about a whole new system again. but i will need to finance it and im not sure if i want to be tied in for 3 or 4 years on something that will be outdated as soon as fortnite runs out of fashion?

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £780.47 (includes shipping: £14.70)

I'd strongly advise not to build a PC with a 1050 or 1050ti. The 570 is worth the extra £30 and will waste those cards. £30 for up to 50% better gaming performance is a no brainer.

Also the Ryzen 6 core systems will not be outdated any time soon, they will get better performance as games use more of the cores in future and AMD will be using the same socket for a few more generations yet. All you'd have to worry about is getting a new GPU if it came to it.

So would I need the 75Hz screen for the 1060?

It's nice to manually set the refresh rate for 75hz to enjoy games at higher FPS etc .

Whilst AMD cards may not as be powerful as Nvidia counterparts , they do offer better quality gameplay then consoles combined with cheaper Freesync screens the Nvidia.
Specially now when Xbox offer Freesync ....

OP can decide if the £50 is worth it for a 1060. Personally I think absolutely not when you could use that to get the Freesync monitor. Also a lot of times nowadays the 570 is actually beating it.

Seems like a wash. Sometimes the 570 4gb is on top, sometimes the 1060, a lot of the time only a frame or two in it if they arent the same.
This depends entirely on the game and resolution of course, but looking at those charts, if i was buying i would be picking the 570 based on price.

It does have the extra 2gb I'll give it that, but it's debatable whether or not the card will utilise it in the future.

rx 570,580,1060... any card will do! better then 1050ti even though that is a good card.
amd have it in the park if you need a full setup with monitor... again if a console is rolling out with sync tech along with tv manufactures, should try to match a PC Gaming system along with it
