Wanted to surprise partner with some new taps. After spending the morning crawling around under the kitchen sink I discovered the new taps were too short to be fitted to the worktop which is 4cm thick. Just enough room to get the securing nut on but not the water pipe.
New tap has a 2inch thread bar which I'm guessing is standard Old taps have a 3inch thread bar looking online I can find no details about the length of the thread bar in tap info does anyone know where I can find the longer version of taps?

Get longer threaded bar, connect water pipes before installing the tap?the threaded piece of the tap isn't removable as far as I can tell so a new piece of bar is no use And like I said, there's no thread left to attach the water pipe once the taps secured under the wotktop

What are the worktops and are they already fitted?

If wood/laminate, could you use a router to open it up from the underside?

Our worktop (solid walnut) is about 40mm and our taps came with some brass extensions.

Worktops are wood and fitted
I've not heard about extenders Does anyone have a link?
Thank you
