CORSAIR OBSIDIAN 750D
AMD Ryzen 7 2700X
Gigabyte X470 AORUS Ultra Gaming
32GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR4 3000MHz (2 x 16GB)
2TB Samsung 860 EVO 2.5" SSD, SATA 6Gb/s (upto 550MB/sR | 520MB/sW)
250GB SAMSUNG 970 EVO M.2, PCIe NVMe (up to 3400MB/R, 1500MB/W)
Noctua NH-U14S HSF

Not dabbled with OC’ing in years, that doable with the above?

TBH I’m not really sure of the difference of the 470 and 350 motherboards. Better for OC’ing or any other benefits?

Offloading my i7 4770 and RX480 to the kids and getting them a 27” Freesync 1080P monitor. Got a 2080Ti inbound to go in the above build for myself. :)

Anecdotally not sure there is much headroom for OCing on Ryzen. That said that's a pretty tidy set up. I'M running a rift on a stock 2700x with 1080 and it's butter smooth

Mostly gaming, yep. And it’s not for 1080P, it’s for my 4K TV.

The kids will get my old PC and a Freesync 1080P monitor.

Just watched a video about OC’ing the 2700X and it does seem to have a little bit left in it. Hoping that’s doable on air but I’m already spending a little more than I originally intended so don’t really want to go down the water cooling route.

Is that RAM up to scratch or is there something better I could get for similar money?

Fast RAM appears to be something that the 2700X seems to respond well to and if I can eck out a little more performance OC’ing the RAM I’d like to.

Do you need to get 32gb of ram, totally not required for gaming. I would get 16gb of better RAM.

Not at all, just figured it was better to have too much than not enough.

I appreciate that faster clocked RAM will provide better results system wide so if there’s significantly faster RAM that’s more expensive but I only need 16Gb of it then it’s not a problem.

Watched a couple of videos now and it appears that there might be a couple of hundred MHz and being able to force all cores to the same clock but don’t know if the HSF I picked will be up to the task.
