RTX 2080 Ti Gaming Benches - 2700X vs 8700K

Some of those gaps are a little wider than I'd like (at 1440p). The 9900K is gonna smash it a new one (esp once o/c), but the price is gonna be a shocker!!

It certainly won't be worth more than double as the pre-order prices indicate! Even the 9700K looks like it will be a fair chunk more.

9900K £600
2080Ti £1500 £1250

= £2100 £1850

before motherboard, coolers, ram.....

Over egg much? Doesn't really help your reputation man.

2080Ti can be gotten for £1100 and the 9900k for less but let's face it, low volume parts but plenty of people willing to get their wallets out for them so they're back ordered for months. Something your precious AMD doesn't have ;)

4770k @4.5 + 2080 Ti + 1440p or 2160p monitor job done.

The money saved by using an old intel CPU (and getting the same gaming performance) could help offset the silly price of the 2080 Ti.

I don't understand why the reviewer even bothered with 1080p as very few people with a 2080 Ti are going to use the resolution.

I would not recommend either the 8700k or 2700X purely for gaming as the same performance can be had from much older CPUs available secondhand.

FPS is tied to CPU clockspeed not how new or many extra cores a modern processor has.

im surprised at the 4k results. I thought they'd be identical. Given how close the 2080/ti play with 60fps, every FPS counts at 4k.

At 1440p I'd say its far more redundant personally.

The one which caught my eye as interesting piece is this one
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/inno...ddr6-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-074-in.html

which looks better than the £1100 is the OCUK Value one, or the £1200 the PNY with blower cooler.....

So I take it back. The good ones start at £1250 ish.....(updated the post). :)
£1250 the first EVGA looking like it has smallpox.
£1290 the Windforce which if someone looks under the cover has the same cooler used since forever. Gigabyte seems keeping the good coolers for the Aorus brand....

Nothing will help the AMD troll reputation no matter how good the products get, simply because of the ludicrous way he spams it all over ever irrelevant post. Quite sad really.

Ahh he came out of the troll cave....

Max-avg fps don't tell the whole story tho. Min fps do benefit a lot from improved IPC and instructions. I really noticed upgrading from a 2600K to a 6700K even when both run at 4.5. Games like The Witcher 3 took a real boost in fluidity and overall experience.

Meh. Just specking up a 2700X build and don’t think I’ll change my mind.

2080Ti inbound and will be gaming exclusively at 4K. Some decent 3600Mhz RAM and the margin at 4K is going to be next to nil I reckon.

This is why I stated 4770k as an old CPU.

You will see a far smaller difference between a 4770k and any modern CPU in minimum fps.

Can't blame you at 4k, other than gaming it's a great all-rounder :)

edit - Considering the current gap I really can't see Zen2 being the magic bullet to cure in this current segment, but if it's super-close and buries Intel on value then no doubt it'll be a hit!

I play at 4k so zero ***** given :)
+1

Kaapstad is right. With a 4770K with a decent overclock, playing at 4K it is good enough. I hardly ever see mine one go over 50% usage. There is a big difference between sandy bridge and haswell.

If buying new and playing 4K, going with Ryzen makes a lot more sense. Why pay double the money for Intel? You can use the money saved to sell and upgrade again in 3 years time to 5nm or something if needed.

Unless Intel manage something special with their 10th gen 10nm stuff that blows 7nm zen 2 out of the park, I am almost certainly going Ryzen for my next build :D
