Wow, it looks like some areas have just been scraped flat! I notice that the vast majority of the homes which have been destroyed are mainly wooden or have tin roofs (in the case of the airbase) and I wonder if any brick buildings suffered as much damage?

Brick buildings would most likely be damaged to the point they need to be knocked down and re-built. That's why Americans in hurricane areas tend to have wooden houses, they're cheaper, quicker and easier to rebuild.

Exactly, but it doesn't stop it from hurting!

Huge numbers of peoples lives and whole communities will have been utterly destroyed.

It will take them all a long time to recover from this!

the usa use wood as it's easily available and cheap brick would cost a fortune over there same as Canada
hence why every thing blows down
but yeah it was a wild storm ... but the insurance will pay if they had storm damage .. which most of them would not ....
