Skylake RAM kit work with Coffee Lake ?

Hi all,

I have just purchased a new Coffee Lake i5 processor with ASUS Prime H370-Plus Motherboard and

Corsair 16GB DDR4 Vengeance LPX 3200MHz Memory Kit for Skylake

Call me stupid lol but I didnt notice the Skylake part until after purcahse as I was just after 16 gig of 3200 ram.

Is this still compatible ?

That just means it has been tested to work on Skylake etc. It will work with any board that supports DDR4.

Thanks very much ! Shame i just noticed the the mobo only supports up to 2666 ram

Been building PC's for years and never made such schoolboy errors !

It should just clock down to 2666MHz. Not a huge difference in price between 2666MHz and 3200MHz anyway.

Yeh.
And pretty much zero difference in performance.
However it might be worth returning it if it's unopened for a cheaper kit, but i don't know what the price difference is vs the effort of exchanging it. Probably just run what you have at the max XMP speed the board will allow.
