RTX 2080 Ti Gaming Benches - 2700X vs 8700K

Still banging on about this drivel? You could literally buy a 2700X, keep it for a year and then throw in the bin and buy a CPU that is more than likely faster than the 9900K and still have change from the original £600. You logic makes sense to you, you, and you, oh and anyone who likes to throw money down the toilet.

re read what you just put then put that in the bin. never heard of such rubbish. by a 2700x keep it a year then throw in a bin and buy a cpu thats quicker than the quickest on offer at gaming within a year. haha.so you buying twice and in the same period of time going to get a quicker cpu for half ? genius ! buy once buy the best you can afford.buy twice spend more.

the simple thing is for gaming the intel is quicker.will be quicker than any amd chip for next 3 years of you owning it. so you pay for that priveledge. so amd for gaming is always behind. great chips for the money but we talking about performance which amd simply cant match in gaming.

You've entirely missed the point. No one is ACTUALLY going to throw a CPU in the bin, there's no need to take it so literally!! It could be resold after a year or two and that money plus what has been saved put in to a newer faster CPU that would supersede the 9900K. You do realise that the 9900K isn't going to be the fastest gaming CPU forever right? What about when the 11000K comes out for £1000? Guess you'll be jumping all over that to get 500FPS in Counterstrike lol!

You are a lost cause, maybe spend less time playing games and go back to school?

So you think you can buy a £299.99 CPU now, throw it away in a year, then buy another CPU for no more than £300 in a years time that will be faster than Intel's soon to be released flagship non HEDT CPU 9900k.

And you accuse him of talking drivel. :p:D:p

He wasn't being literal. And it doesn't change facts.

You should learn to read, I said "more than likely faster" and in 12 months time, which in case you are unsure is 1 year, there's a whole new generation of CPU due out, or do you live under a rock?

But you were the one who said

He obviously knows and playing dumb just to accuse him of talking drivel. I would be surprised if anyone seriously took what Journey said about throwing it in the bin literally. He was clearly just using that to make point.

At the rate AMD are catching intel on IPC I wouldnt be surprised if there was actually a faster gaming CPU than a 9900k for £300 pretty soon. Maybe not a quite a year but it won't be far away I suspect. It's got what, a 12% gap to close...

I'm beginning to think there are people who frequent these forums who actually would do such a thing. :(

I am. I apologise. :o

The whole debate is a silly one because we have no idea just how fast the new CPU's next year will be.

Literally can mean figuratively by the way. This is accepted even by dictionaries now, Cambridge and Merriam-Webster to name a few.

I'll tell you what is worrying me, I am actually tempted by the price of the 2070, even after immediately dismissing it when they did the launch announcement.

Must resist, must resist, its a good card but a bad price, even it will double the performance of my 970.

£300 + £300 = £600? Taking it literally you have still spent the same, even if you are dumb enough to throw one in the bin.

the funny thing is obviously not throwing one in the bin but you still spent the same and there is no way in 1 year that amd will overtake intel in the gaming area of cpus. they cant do it in 15 years so why would they do it in one year ? its not even far fetched just simple logic. intel have the best gaming cpus. no one is saying amd cpus are bad they arent. they just not as quick.

If i needed a card now it would be a 2070 @ 429. If they were 500 odd pounds i would just get a 1080ti. No 2080 and no 2080ti raytracing or dlss would make me pay that much more for one.

at resolutions most people use in gaming. 1080 is the main resolution most people game at. look at the games people play in masses fps wise on pc. pubg , fortnite , battlefield. all favour high fps on intel cpus. so on a modern monitor and high fps its not overkill. you want a intel high clocked cpu and a nvidia card for the best experience. we not talking value we talking best experience on the pc components.
