Last weekend I did a 200 mile round trip. Noticed no noises at all. Cars been parked all week until tonight and I drove it away and noticed a clunking noise when braking. The brakes respond fine but it's no different whether at low speed or high.

I can't tell if it's front or rear or a combination as the sound is hard to pinpoint

Is there any quick visual things I can look for before I take a trip to kwik fit and get flleeced

Edit: mondeo mk4 08 reg 2.5T

I was doing 30 and gently eased on brake and it starts and gets worst the more I apply.

I'm thinking it's a ceased caliper or something. It was very wet on way home last Sunday and that was last time I drive it before tonight.

A ceased caliper will cause one wheel to be hotter than the rest, check axel to axel as the fronts will be one temperature and the rears another usually colder than the fronts.

What sort of knocking is it? is it loud? Do you get one knock or multiple per braking episode? Do you feel anything throught the brake pedal or the steering? Need more information really.

Could even be a stone trapped somewhere.

It knocks like thump.... Thump..... Thump and it gets and louder the more I press the brake.

Sorry got no more at moment, will try and get more detail tomorrow.
