Hello eveyone!
I know tons about computers but when it comes to networks I'm an idiot!
I want to buy a gaming router. The simple fact is that I have never really used QOS because I have too many games and can't be bothered to set it up for all of them. So I want something really simple to configure.
I have Killer on my gaming PC. I really like the simplicity and the way I can prioritise stuff with one click of a button. I don't care if its no better than the intel, it's easy and informative and the intel is not. I would like to extend that simplicity to a router, hence why I want a gaming router. The Wifi is actually secondary since most of my stuff is wired.
I have looked at three models. The Linksys WRT32X, the Netgear XR500, and the Asus RT-AC88U.
The Linksys is probably ideal for what I want, but there seems to be a lot of negative reviews concerning dropped connections.
The Netgear seems to be great but the main gaming feature, Geo Location, is pretty useless to me, I don't play that type of game. And I am not sure the Netgear makes QOS any simpler than any other router. Anti-bufferbloat seems useful but I'm not really sure of it's worth.
The Asus seems good with some gaming oriented stuff but again the QOS I am not sure is any simpler than any other router.
I am stuck. I would get the Linksys but the negative reviews are holding me back. I was hoping that someone here may have some of these routers and could offer some wise words! Please, don't tell me not to buy a gaming router, it's too late for that. Lol. I'm not going to start again with the research! :/
