So I was looking to upgrade to 9th Gen from 6700k as I been having issues with it recently all year I did have a look at 9900k and 9700k however I am stuck on choice I currently only will be using it for video games I have a ASUS 1080 TI strix OC and play at 1440p not 4k.

What would be ideal pick? £120 price difference between the two.

Also what memory can I use on this CPU? as I noticed on intel site it says 2400mhz

Since you game at 1440p get a 2700X. It will cost mobo+CPU+ram less than the 9700K on it's own.
For ram to get most out of both Intel & AMD you need 3200C14 ram. Possibly buy a 3200C16 and overclock, as it £100 cheaper than C14.

And also are bundles albeit with X370 board. yet

£539 with SSD, RAM, board, cooler and 2700X

compared to

£500

And you still need to buy good cooler, RAM, board.

Btw whats your RAM with the 6700K?

Your RAM is a little slow, but will work fine with the 9700K. Intel state DDR4-2666 as the official max as this is a JEDEC standard, but in reality, slower and much faster speeds are supported.

Nice gaming orientated review of the 9700K here:
https://www.pcgamer.com/intel-core-i7-9700k-review/

2133 ram chop 30% FPS on games over 3200 on any Intel CPU, as it also does at this moment on his 6700K.
3200C14 (or 3200C16 and overclock to C14) is the bare minimum to have both Intel and Ryzen CPUs work at 100%. Any more is diminishing returns.

See post here with benchmarks,

My ram is 2133 mhz ddr4 corsair lpx

Upgrade your ram before the rest of the system. See my benchmarks above. Buy a Team group for 3200C16 £150 and overclock it to C14.
Then if you need extra power upgrade the rest of your system. Also 6700K is OCed to 5Ghz?

Im sticking with my 6700k until Ryzen 2
Looks like im holding fast to my 4690K till Ryzen 2 also.
Unless a decent price (and availability) comes up on a 9700K then I am just going to have to wait. Would frankly give AMD my money too. No GPU this gen and no CPU either. Urgh. Need shiny urgently.
