Winter Blues do you suffer ?

I think I do get this at times. Changed jobs and will be doing 2 night shifts a week from December so that will be interesting!

Going away to Teneriffe end of November so hope the week of sun will see me through to after Xmas anyway!

I am much happier in the winter. Dont enjoy the heat of summer which isnt normally a problem in England but this year it was long.

Brightly lit rooms is best until springtime. Its so tempting to dim the lights in the winter months and get cosy with the tv etc.

Massively struggle with this. I basically lose all tolerance and enthusiasm for 3-6 months of the year.

My birthday is in September so that kicks off a "time passing/seasons changing" feeling which tapers down all the way to Christmas. By new years it's dark, cold, I've receded into myself and can't stand leaving the house. Then around April I'll suddenly realised it's not dark in the mornings and start to perk up.

In my new job they gave me a SAD lamp for my desk which I think helps. I need one for the bedroom at wake-up time really.

Full on Seasonal Affective Disorder here, been part of my life for at least ~25 years. Everything is usually hard work from September to March, on days when the mental fatigue is really bad, you want to hide away from the world but the best thing you can do is get outdoors for ~60mins+.

Light boxes can help with the extreme fatigue, but they don't cure anything like all SAD symptoms, such as depression and carbohydrate craving.

A majority of my work hours are outdoors, which helps, but frequent recreational cycling for the last two years has really helped my SAD and fitness (not to mention help me lose 15-20Kg). From a very basic ~30 miles of cycle commuting each week in 2016, I've done ~5200 miles and ~365000 feet of climbing so far this year, hoping to reach the 400000 feet milestone before the year ends.

I hate snow.
I'm a ups man and when it snows, rather than clear their own drive and their section infront of their house (like the good old days), people just double park on the streets :(

Get some Philips Hue lights and set them to come on gradually like sunlight.

I really struggle with motivation in the mornings during the winter. I get up and row every day but during the darker months this turns into a massive struggle for me. I set up a Hue strip light around the bed to come on gradually and it definitely helped.
