My Redmi note 4 has bitten the dust looking for a similar replacement with a screen no bigger than 5.5in
and excellent battery life. I am out of the mix so really do not know what is out there. The note 4 did me fine, would probably get another if the price was right.
Less than £180, if possible.

You can get a gray import Nokia 8 for that money.

Battery lasts a whole day at least with light use.

My 2p.

Edit

Hard to beat for the money yea if you shop around you can buy a Nokia 8 for under £180 and this is a flagship phone and as for me and the price I paid for the Nokia 8 I am happy, it has a nice build quality, screen and small enough to fit in your pocket and is 5.3 inches big.

Can not fault the phone at these prices and has a nice pixel density and also I forgive the phone and really does feel like a flagship phone.

Happy hunting.

I'll make an assumption that your desire to have a no bigger than 5.5 inch screen is due to device size. It has a notch and a 5.84 inch screen but it is smaller than your Note 4, how about a MI A2 Lite? It's running Android One so no MIUI but it's getting regular updates, 4 so far in 4 months of ownership and also has good battery life from a 4000mah battery. Well under £180 depending on model - 3GB/32GB or 4GB/64GB; I have the latter and I'm happy with mine.

Don't know anything about this model but if you really want MIUI you could also look at a Redmi 6, 5.45 inch screen and under £120, only 3000mah battery though...

How long will it last if not used for mare than a call or two each day?

How long will the battery last.

Well I can tell you from personal experience since I own the Nokia 8.

If you leave the phone on standby mode where you are not using the phone but is switched on it will last 24 hours easy especially for a call or two from a fully charged phone where the battery is 100 per cent charged.

It depends on what you use the phone for, I mean with apps that demand a lot the battery will last you 2 or 4 hours, or if you use YouTube non stop the battery will last around 6 or 8 hours at best from a fully charged phone.

So yea you will have to charge the phone once a day to 100% so if you hardly use the phone and only for calls it will last 24 hours or a bit more

With light use for me the phone with 2 hours on screen time the phone was on for 15 hours this was from 100 per cent battery life down to 40 per cent so for me I am fully confident the phone will last 24 hours then you need to charge it back up again.

Reviewers and manufacturer test battery life where it is lightly used to be honest so if you ever do buy the Nokia 8... being Realistic you will experience the same battery life as me, so if your someone who does the occasional YouTube and some web browsering the battery will last you for 1 day.

What you have said it seems to me you will leave the phone on standby with the screen off as it does automatically turn off and receiveing some calls so yea will last you the entire day and a bit more.

So just for calls the phone definitely will last you a day and a bit more.
