Hi

We need to replace our video streaming pc. The only thing we use it for is for live HD video streaming via software called Wirecast.

Both the 7700k & 8700 are about the same price. Which would be better for our usage?

We won;t be overclocking.

I don't know much about Wirecast but Intel's 8700 having 6 Core/12 threads should definitely be faster at streaming and offer better longevity vs an 4 Core/8 threaded 7700k CPU.

If both are the same price then go for the 8700 but either should be fine looking at the recommended system requirements.

System requirements list an i7 quad core at 2.8GHz + as recommended with 16GB+ RAM.

Both in stock. :)

That was the first cpu I looked at but Wirecast optimise their software for Intel cpus.
The system requirements specifically list i5 or i7. I don't know why or how ryzen would perform but there is no mention of an amd equivalent.
If you are building the pc for this software in particular i would stick with what they recommend.

Everybody recommends Intel because it's easier and AMD have been in the wild for so long. You know that's different with Ryzen now.

2 very quick searches, Ryzen seems to be fine.

For the amount of money you can save, I'd strongly recommend a little bit of reading around to see how Ryzen holds up.
