Bulldozer had high clock frequency right..
So... in some apps it must have smashed sandy, ivy e.c.t

Has anyone tested doom with bulldozer at 5ghz+....
At least on my phenom.. comparing it to haswell-e... doom feels the same..

According to raja koduri and some of the guys at ID SOFTWARE they coded the game in machine code / binary ... or the game processes the code as binary.. whichever one..
So it bypasses most operating system ish and the API apparently.. which is why the game runs so sweet...

U should play it on its hardest difficulty, the games enemy A.I reaaaaly scales up

My phenom 2 955 BE (RB:C6) was at 4ghz... my haswell is at 4.3 .....

Funny thing is..the game maxes my haswell e....
And that has 12 threads... my phenom was only 4 cores
Strange.... n weirdest thing is evil within 2 which is another id tech game... is so freaky on the cpu.....

We need someone at ID to speak on it TBH..but i think doom scales with frequency

id generally have produced very CPU efficient code - but the game won't be purely in machine code - they more commonly than many game developers make use of inline asm to boost performance in areas where that can be an advantage and have more typically than usual utilised vendor specific extensions, etc.

I'm very familiar with the source for id engines upto but not including id tech 6.

You are familiar with the source?
Stupid question but how... and whats up with evil within 2...
Doom,wolf = gpu heavy
Evil within seems real cpu dependant...

U got ummm..... any access to eternal doom builds?
The guy who bypassed dooms denuvo drm (voski) sent me a craaaazy modded version of wolfenstein 3d... i sent it as a bug report to the quake champions team but i duno if they got it.....its rly good..

U want it? ..
I duno if they got angry or happy i sent them that

Full source for some of the engines has been publicly released. I've long had a peripheral connection - friends with a couple of people who work there, was part of the official modding support team when that existed, etc.
