Hi,

I'm moving to a new area, and for once it seems that BT offer the best broadband speeds. The top end package is quoted at 300 Mbps (and BT estimate 285Mbps as the speed the line will be capable of), from checking with openreach, apparently this is 'g.fast'. Is this a FTTP or FTTC connection? If it's the former, if BT are quoting a speed does that mean the property already has FTTP fitted, if not is BT pretty quick at fitting it?

Lastly I've never done 'TV' with BT, are they just like Virgin and Sky - I.e. can I add Sky Sports / Premier Sports with them easily?

Thanks

G.fast is via a copper telephone line. BT usually attach a speed guarantee to the service, but the sync rate will be the same regardless of the provider you choose.

Thanks Caged, from sites like uswtich, only BT are offering the faster connection, is it worth ringing other providers to ask them if they can offer it to or is it likely only BT that can offer that speed (E.g. when I try Sky direct they say the best I can get is 67 Mbps).

See my edit. BT and TalkTalk are the only retail consumer-oriented providers that I'm aware of at the moment.

Sky have said they will offer it along with FTTP, but haven't put a timeframe to that. I'd take TalkTalk G.fast and Sky TV and then by the time the TalkTalk contract is up Sky will probably have it in their range.
