Gibbo - Drop the Gigabyte 1080ti to £579 again

I know
I had been looking/saving for a 2080ti until they came out with that obscene price
I don`t `need` an upgrade,but i `want`one :D
I only play older type games like lfdead and s sam but have a Rift so could benefit.....maybe
Current gfx card has got dibs on with a m8/neighbour so that would be sorted as he won`t be getting it for peanuts like last time i upgraded
My Rift ran superbly on my 1080Ti but mostly only played Elite Dangerous on it. I expect the 1070 does also in fairness but that old upgrade itch chews at us.

It’s like F5 chess :p

I’m now set logged into OcUK shop should @Gibbo want to let me know via PM if he opens a ten minute window for me at £579 so I can use PayPal

It shall drop to £599 at 9am until 9am tomorrow, that is your last chance and I am afraid no to £579, £599 is the best now!

He been around on the forum but ignored this thread for some reason.

Calling @easyrider attention ! :p

Ok I soaked up £20 for my own stupidity but just ordered a

GEFORCE GTX 1080TI GAMING OC BLACK 11264MB GDDR5X PCI-EXPRESS GRAPHICS CARD

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

THANKS FOR YOUR PATIENCE @Gibbo

pics or it didn't happen :p

Loaf of bread with GFX card on my drum kit good enough for you? :p

I was waiting patiently for the 2080 series. They are rubbish...I need a gfx card over the winter

months so the 1080ti fit the bill. It will also last me ages until the new tech hits. And I've treated

myself to 4 months interest free on it. I was hovering over the 1070ti for a while thinking this

would be a good stop gap card...but tbh the resale on one of them is not as desirable as a 1080ti.

So I'm now set for some winter gaming until I can get out to my pond in the spring :D

I don't want to pee on the bonfire but your paying same price as 2 years ago. Suppose with inflation it's cheaper but let's not kid ourselves. The prices are terrible all around. It maybe the best priced gtx1080ti in the UK....but It's still an awful price. It really is. Im not blaming OCUK directly as they may only make a small Mark up but so Nvidia maybe to blame.

In May 2016 I (& many others) bought a zotac gtx980ti omega edition from OCUK at £350. That's a decent price for OLD tech. That's the direction gtx1080ti should be heading in.

£600 is expensive. £800 on offer for £600 *save 25%* and people thing it's a bargain. Its the same price!!! But mentally u believed u got a steal. Your blind.

It's all my opinion & buy what u want but I'm stating facts.

Soon whenever a bell rings we will all salivate...

And looking in Members Market and other forums my choice was used 1080ti for £500 for a card released in May 2017...So to get a new one with 3 years warranty for 599 made sense to me.

Ive been in the GFX game long enough. The release date for GeForce GTX 1080 Ti March 10, 2017..I'm under no illusion that I got a bargain lol :p But what I have got is a fast card that can push my X34 at 100hz at 3440 x 1440p for the next year or so.

The 2080 series offering 1080ti performance for nearly 200 quid more was not an option as its a crap card...Even though its just a month old...so I want bang for buck...

Its the fastest card for £599 currently regardless of age...The 980ti you mention in May 2016 for £350 seemed expensive to me when I bought a GTX 1080 around that time in a warehouse deal for £500

I used that card for 9 months and sold it again for £500

Just because the 2080 series hits doesn't make the 1080ti crap. In fact I'm betting that all the crazy catz in here who sold their 1080ti to get the new 2080ti are secretly regretting having to wait over a month for a 35% gain over 1080ti for 70% more cost and to top it off a possibly of a borked card.

The 1080ti right now makes perfect sense for me.:)

Plus 4 months interest free credit..I wont even notice £149 per month coming out of my bank...:p

I know u been humming & harring a while like me easyrider & I know it's an arse with pricing as it is at the moment but glad your happy dude & post your results mate

Its a very odd purchase..I know that..But look at the GFX arena...Its an odd place...Look at 2070 for nearly 500 offerning 1080 performance 2 years on and with no hope of running RT at playable FPS.

So the 2070 card is out the question

Then look at 2080...same speed as a 1080ti and yet 200 quid more....and no chance of playing RT at playable FPS

So the 2080 card is out the question

Then look at the 2080ti offering just 35% gain over 1080ti but at £700 more....and possibly with borked ram...

So the 2080ti card is out the question.

That leaves me with a fast card with longevity for the lowest cost available at this current time new.

The GTX 780 i had was a fantastic card...only sold it few months ago from a second PC...The 980ti was a fantastic card and only sold that cause I got a cheap 1080. I'm sure the 1080ti will be a card I grow fond of...and I'm glad I bagged one before they all dry up. :)

so what's the alternative?

so what's the alternative?

That's my point. There is nothing. I hate it, it utterly sucks. We all have to hold against the ridiculous prices til they are forced to drop. Unfortunately too many breaking so prices remain. That's what Nvidia want from Everyone. If u buy now u should have bought 2 years ago.

I dunno the 1070ti at £379 is decent card for the price..I was seriously looking at getting one...

But is the extra £200 , worth more to me for the 1080ti? I think so.

Look here....The gfx card arena is dull as dish water...
