Virgin Media Discussion Thread

tired to leave virgin offered 200mb, full house TV and a phone line I don't use for £57/month for 6/12 and told to then call back and get a new deal

ok I said opting for an easy life, only to be emailed a 12month contract £57 for 6 months, increasing to £79/month for the remainder!

anyone else had problems with mis-selling and lying from VM? this is the second time it has happened

Yep. A while back I was given net, tv and phone package and was told I could use it for 3 months at my current prices and if I don't like it, return to normal. Obviously that didn't happen, I argued long enough to get my way though.

I think that some of the people that call you with offers are willing to lie to get you to sign up, aside from my and your experience, I've heard the same from others. This time when I got a call back after cancelling, and they offered me 362Mb for £32, I asked for them to email me a copy of the contract first. All is well, e-signed it and it now appears on my account page.

Right have been talking to customer services who told me the latency might due to being on 100mb package

so they upgraded me to 350mb package.but still have latency issues

Was hoping on 350mb they might push the new firmware to the router
the other issue i am now experincing is that
With everything connected to hub3 i get 350mb speed and 20mb upload
if put the hub 3 in modem mode use my Asus RT-AC88u i get only 76mb? using cat6 and cat6 ethernet cables

What version firmware you got?

Just be thankful you have a working internet connection. My Virgin line has been dead for 10 days. ETA for fix was lunchtime today, now 5pm tomorrow. :(

Has anyone looked at the business broadband they offer for home use?

https://www.virginmediabusiness.co.uk/connectivity/internet-access/business-broadband/

I mean that's 350mb/7mb for £32 a month. 2 year contract with first 3 months free so £28/month.

*Minimum cost of install is £50 per site.

No idea if they charge it anyway if there's a domestic cable there already.

I'd be amazed if they'd sell it to a residential address. If they would though, my gosh they're on my shopping list.

Only 7Mb upload though, I would murder that! TBH I get 200Mb down 15Mb up MixTv and evening and weekends phone for £39.98pm on a 12 month contract that I renegotiate every year.

People do work from home, and Virgin are always telling people that residential lines have no SLAs, and if people need guaranteed service, they should get a business line.

Previously when I was a VM customer I asked about changing from a residential to business line and they said no. At the time I was primarily a standard home user though.

I don’t think you can justify a business service as being whom worker though, I think you have to be an actual business or have a business registered to your address. Ie Willy’s web design @ your address not just Barry who works for X company from home.

But if you want a SLA on your service or fixed IP address, Virgin tell you to get a business line.

Just had a quick webchat with VMB and yes they are happy to provide business services to a residential address. Fantastic news!
I was cheeky and asked if they'd buy me out of my existing PN and they don't do that.

Can't wait for my PN contract to run out now!

From a process perspective they add a new business account onto the database (in addition to the residential account) and will do so for any business customer, then you can order business services and have them billed on a separate VAT invoice for the business.
