Hi all,

Wonder if you can shed some light on the following....

My wife's 120d (64 plate) is telling us that the inspection service is over due.

The car was last serviced 4,000 miles ago in May of this year. At the moment the car has 49,229 miles on the clock. In the iDrive menu its telling me that all the service items (oil etc) are "OK".

So what is an "inspection" service? is it separate to the normal oil/filter type services?

It also transpires that the previous owner had purchased the 5 year / 50,000 mile service inclusive pack but it's not clear that an inspection service is covered by this.

thanks all

It’s usually a take it to the dealer so they can look at it and find faults. Reset it yourself is my advice. It’s time thing not a component service thing as I recall and can be reset via the settings

you get an oil service then a year after inspection 1 then another year after oil service then another year after inspection 2, then back to the start again.

inspection 1 covers an oil service plus all the filters, brake and coolant or should do.

inspection 2 covers an inspection 1 plus spark plugs and transmission and differential fluid or should do.

If you have a service pack, it will be covered. Might as well have the dealer look at it if it's paid for.

That only applies to the old style, a 64 plate will be CBS.
