wanting to do some strongman truck pulling.

got a 23 tonne truck with 2 towing eyes so we will have 2 straps going from the truck to the harness. the question is what rating straps do you think we will need?

can anyone enlighten me?

Ok I am bored,

How the hell can someone pull 23 ton? This is doing my head in it dont take much lol .

Does the 23 ton actually have to be moved or is the force of the wheels some how taking away some of the weight because of a side force, I go to the gym if I tried to lift that weight i would be buried in Australia lol.

Come on someone must know.

You're only fighting the rolling resistance, not the actual full 23 tonnes.

you are not lifting the weight you are pulling it.
23 tonnes is being exerted downwards (because of mavity)
But you are not exerting 23 tonnes of force to move it.
and obviously the wheels greatly reduce the friction acting between the load and the ground.

You are not pulling 23 tonnes, you are pulling at whatever the rolling resistance of the wheels is on the road surface at a very low acceleration with near zero snatch. I would have thought some straps with 5 tonnes breaking strain total. ie 2.5t each would probably do. Normal tow ropes.

Thats what I was thinking.

Exactly, its giving me a head ache and I think I'm over thinking and a couple of 5t straps would even be over kill

Yes they would.

Take your max leg press weight, and half it, thats the max weight that would ever be put through them. The weight of the truck is irrelevant, its how much force you can put through them.

I just broke brad castleberrys World record on leg press last night :D

didn't think of it that way much better way to think

The maximum force tat will ever be exerted is how ever hard you can pull. You certainly can;t lift 5t, so yes,m a 5t rated strap is way over kill.
