Spec me a new kindaimobile 60-80k

If you up the budget to say 85K, I suspect you could get into a good McLaren 12C or R8 V10 Plus of current generation. Both will come with significant running costs and if you want to start modding will be a level on from the GTR, but much more special too IMHO.

Hey buddy

So 60-80k, lets have a see:

First one, a much newer GTR, transfer over your ceramics too it and don't go wild on the tuning, just get a Litchfield Stage 2, gearbox upgrade and use LC, probably the 10s you want with reliability and not a huge amount of money spent tuning.

Now moving away from GTR, here are some suggestions:

BMW M2 Competition, yes you said no BMW's, but the M2 competition might be worth a look, well within your budget for a brand new car, can be tuned to 500HP, DCT but small and lightish probably won't depreciate badly either.

So now some used recommendations from:

SVR of course ;)
https://used.jaguar.co.uk/search#/details/2906640

No idea how you feel on a red car, but if you say put 35k deposit on that, over a 3yr term you could have payment sub £500 a month and a final balloon of around 30k based on 5-6% APR and ability to overpay or settle early easily. :)

R8 V10 Plus, 2015 model, S-tronic, ceramics and a dull boring colour which you like. :D
https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/audi/r8/audi-r8-v10-plus-quattro-2015/9030851

R8 V10 Plus, new model, 600+ HP, maybe 10s out the box in a bright colour so not you, but stretches budget:
https://www.pistonheads.com/classif...2-v10-plus-quattro-2dr-semi-automatic/9016322

This is probably the R8 V10 I would buy, S-Tronic, Plus edition, ceramics but a really rare colour and a nice colour, exotic but not in your face like yellow:
https://www.pistonheads.com/classif...ro--ceramic-brakes--carbon-in-and-out/9180948
Also seems a good price!

Or another stretch yourself R8 V10:

OK that is enough R8's but they are in a way a natural progression many GTR owners make, more grown up, MORE POSH, just ask Housey, he is very POSH! ;)

The wild card, an Alfa, just get a warranty! :D

Ferrari F430, yes its old, yes its slow by comparison, but to drive its bloody amazing and I've always said no to another black car, but black works so well on these, as does red or course, ONLY buy from Ferrari dealer!

Or guarantee yourself some appreciation with a manual version:

This is way over budget, but will they get cheaper or go way of old NSX, but look at it, that even has me tempted and I know yes way out of budget but nice car, NSX:
https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/honda/nsx/honda-nsx-sport/9209608

Gallardo, not sure if you mentioned was kind of a childhood dream:

https://www.pistonheads.com/classif...500bhp-se-ltd-edition-coupe-2d-4961cc/7530490

Gallardo was a dream of mine, until I drove one at which point it was quickly dismissed, such a shame, so I advice drive or rent one for a weekend!

You enjoy track days, Exige and get a nice daily:

Again stretches your budget, but its same colour as your GTR, hugely planted, hugely fast, very capable, supercar, but probably gonna lose a lot more money yet as the engines are a bit quiet:
https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/mclaren/570s/mclaren-570gt-3-8-ssg-2dr/9042316

AMG GT-S:

Did I mention GTR? This is lovely:
https://www.pistonheads.com/classif...new-michelin-pilot-sport-4s-exemplary/9203227

Not got the power, but better handling, more planted, more fun, more smiles and probably depreciation free, unless next GT4 coming next year is NA, then ooops:

Porsche 997.2 Turbo PDK, rivals your GTR easily, but more planted:
https://www.pistonheads.com/classif...-997/porsche-911-997-gen-ii-turbo-pdk/8651545

Porsche 991 Turbo, stretching budget, but silly quick:
https://www.pistonheads.com/classif...e/911-turbo-991/porsche-911-turbo-pdk/8816176

Lots of great stuff you can get, or get a nice car thats quick for 40k, like an M2 and then for 20k get a Caterham. :)

Hehe, it's a rebuild project atm.

To keep on thread, I would fancy a Bristol Blenheim 3S for 60 to 80k

Jesus why are they so much money? Horrendous looking cars. The 4S is even worse with its ridiculous use of Audi tail lights.

Camaro zl1

Ohhh I like....

Oh and a Bentley Continental GT Speed 6.0W12 as well - Should feel quite nice after that plasticky Nissan.... :D

Hmmm, am I old enough to own a Bentley?

Lovely car, but not that that price range, if they were sub 50k maybe, but not at current price levels.

The car I have or GT4 would be all I could come up with really.

To be honest I dont think I'm good enough to handle a polo. R8 is a consideration. GT4, maybe.

Camaro ZL1 is great, but remember its big, same as GTR but your sitting on the wrong side, for me when I had my Mustang (Saleenn) been LHD I adapted too within a day or so, hardest part was changing gear with wrong hand, but ZL1 is paddle shift option, so get that, very fast cars once moving, epic handling on track but on a UK road it will be messy due to tyre width tramlining everywhere and in the wet you might die.

F430 for me

Why I suggested it, something I've been considering, just at 90-100k could be money poorly spent, thought doubt they will lose money as 360's are north of 60k now too, but for me the F430 is about styling I simply think they are gorgeous, my favourite Fezza looks wise and very sorted handling, like a big Lotus, lots of power once moving, but the F1 box is a bit meh, end of the day its just a slightly better version of whats in my M3 which after a GTR or SVR it will feel like an antic.

But there is just something about F430's in red or black, they look great in grey too. Just a beautiful car!

Not sold on a Fezza yet, I would be wary of picking up an older one without really deep pockets.

This is way over budget, but will they get cheaper or go way of old NSX, but look at it, that even has me tempted and I know yes way out of budget but nice car, NSX:

If only, but yea, no chance on that.

Test drove one, and, it did nothing for me. It made all the right noises I just didnt enjoy it, I guess like you and the G

Gallardo, not sure if you mentioned was kind of a childhood dream:

Yes, ive heard quite a few say this. I loved it when I took one out on track but that was before the GTR days, so a re-drive might be wise.

I was looking at this very one....

I struggle with Porsches, they seem so soul-less to me (all much of muchness). Id have to rent one for a weekend to see if some time in one gels.

R8 V10 Plus - Thought you might like it, I also really like, never seen one in that colour and for me getting the right colour can save you thousands in depreciation as there is always someone eventually who wants a car in a rarer colour, yes might take longer to move on, but when a buyer comes who wants that colour, they pay extra. Similar to the whole ultra blue situation on SVR's, they always fetch on average 5-10k more and sell much quicker!

Fezza - Understand you concerns and hence me saying if you did, ONLY buy via official Ferrari dealer, that warranty and service is crucial and well worth paying a few grand over odds for.

AMG GTS - My thoughts exactly, it did not excite me, I smiled, but I was thinking its a bit meh.

Gallardo - You absolutely need to drive it. The E-Gear is also slow and pretty poor. Get a manual if you did, gated shifted is nice but I just found the car numb on track and bloody aweful to drive on the road, visibility is terrible, if your feet are big the pedals are a nightmare and again its very numb, R8 drives much better.

That GTR - I'd buy that, its so you but such a major update compared to your car, nicer interior, better suspension, more power naturally, just do a simple map to 650HP, add your ceramics, Y-pipe and then leave it alone, just make gearbox stronger and use LC.

Porsche turbo - Nope you are right, driven the 997.2 very hard at Oulton Park in the wet and on road, in the wet I could simply do the stupidest things, like full power, smashing the brakes, the car was so planted and so capable it simply became boring and thats on a track in the wet where you can go as fast as you want, on the road you never get close to limits unless you wanna drive 100+ everywhere and go too jail.

GT4 - This is different, due to lack of power and stupid long gearing your always thrashing it which is good, but it is a planted car, but they will slide if you really provoke but not easiest due to such epic balance and not huge torque, but they are like go-karts steering wise, very precise and a properly sorted handling car and they sounds bloody awesome in the cabin, the GT cars just sound sublime in the cabin. I did not post a GT3 but you can now get a GT3 991 for around 100k by the way if you stretch it. But I think you'd miss the power massively, it was the main reason my C2S went as planted and as fun as it was I really missed the power of a V8 hence Mustang, now I've got SVR which is vastly quicker than Mustang really not sure I could go to something as slow as GT4 as on the road power is nice and fun when your not trying to max every corner speed for safety reasons, on a track however the GT4 would be more fun, even though slower.

I feel your looking at newer GTR or R8 V10, if I was you I'd go R8 V10, try something new because as great as a newer GTR is, I am afraid its still a side step, so try something different. :)

I can't help but feel that the extra you're going to throw on top to buy a replacement car could more than easily cover the costs of maintenance on this current GTR plus improvements to the bits being replaced, plus many track sessions and consumables. The cost for the "improvement" or "upgrade" to the newer car doesn't seem entirely worth it at this stage.

But, I know that's going against Litchfield's advice so...

However if you are hell bent on changing, it might be worth considering something you can enjoy more in terms of the experience, so maybe spend less and get more track time?
