Buy a console because you can't get a decent gaming pc even if you doubled the budget. You could get a basic gaming pc for £500-550 but it would be the lowest of everything and building it yourself. For £300 you are better off looking at second hand older systems on Ebay or just buy a console.

You need a much higher budget, if you want a decent gaming PC.

I wouldn't want to game on that even if it had a 2400G in it and there's the problem. Even with the cheapest of everything (apart from the memory) including a terrible psu and the best it can manage is maybe 720p. Even though AMD is massively ahead of Intel with their APU's the 2200G/2400G are still some way off comfortable 1080p gaming without turning many settings down. That just defeats the advantage of pc gaming and he may as well buy a console. For his budget it can't be done with brand new components.
