PlayStation will not be at E3 2019

It's not out of the realms of impossibility. Or whatever the saying is. By all accounts, Red Dead Redemption 2 on Xbox One X is a very good looking game and runs at a near perfect 4K30. As others say though, the extra processing power in next-gen probably means better AI/physics and we'll still get 4K30. But I'm not giving up my dreams of 4K60 yet! :p

Can pcs now even do a game at 4k60 with all the bells and whistles?

A 1080Ti can and that is roughly what the new consoles are supposed to be equivalent to (if one believes the gossip) but they also have the additional benefit of extreme optimization. You can't really do that as well with PC games.

It can? Even at ultra settings?

Not that consoles would run at ultra

From what I can glean from watching Digital Foundry videos, I thought it could. But you’ve got me doubting myself now. They might have been using a Titan Xp or something. :p

What even is the argument for 2020? 2019 feels right to me, last gen was the exception going for 7 years we should be back to 6 now. Not to mention we saw some blatant next gen games at last years e3 but they weren’t allowed to say, very reminiscent of Watch Dogs et al 2012.

Am still happy with this gen, Sony has had and still is getting quality games out there.

Some still yet to come such as the last of us 2

Yes I totally agree, but worth pointing out that The Last Of Us, Gran Turismo 6, GTA5 etc all big games came out not long before and even after the PS4. God of War came out after the PS3. I don’t think Sony are one to wait for a lull in the current generation before launching a new.

Though I think ps5 will be out November 2020, for me it feels like this gen (pro) has hit its limit graphically. November 2019 seems right to me for the next gen as game design needs to push on in terms of draw distances, more Npc’s, scale, texture quality, 4K/60 if possible but at the very least stable 4K/30 most of the time if poss. It looks like it’ll be HDR10 implemented I imagine as that’s still the bulk of hdr and the cheapest option.

TLOU2 would be a nice swan song for the PS4 tbh, after that it’s wsiting another year for the ps5 unfortunately probably.

Yup Sony said months ago that they are at the point now where they need more power to move on with games graphics now and we had the massive leak for Sony's next PS with regards to hardware over several months ago i.e. using Zen (leaked from one of Sony's programmers iirc)

If not late 2019, then very early 2020 imo.

Given that next year is PlayStation's 25th anniversary, I think it would be fitting to start the next gen with the PS5 release

With that weak arse CPU holding things back to 30fps? No siree. Get Zen in there pronto. And if PS5 sticks to 30fps next gen then that will be horrendous but I expect Xbox to make 60fps standard. They already support 120fps now.

You do realise that games on your phone can be 60fps yes?

Someone in the comments of that article ^^ thinks we're going to end up with Jaguar successor, Puma instead of Zen. *shudders*
