So you'd take part in a DEMOCRATIC vote for a party that would then IGNORE the will of the people determined by a DEMOCRATIC vote.

And you can't see the issue with that?

I bet you were the kid that took his.ball home when you weren't on the winning side too...

First and foremost the referendum was advisory. Secondly we should not be governing by referendum as most people cannot be expected to be experts in the intricacies of things like how leaving a huge trade block would affect the country. This is why we have elected politicians who should be relying on experts to guide them.

If people can’t see now that leaving the EU is going to be hugely detrimental to our country then there’s no hope for them as they’re not prepared to admit it. Maybe when our country is totally insignificant then maybe, just maybe, some of those people will, belatedly, wake up.

A brexiteer at work said to me we were a great empire once and we could be again. I cannot get my head round that type of mentality as it will never happen. The world is so different from the times of the Empire not least that the countries we once subjugated no longer use spears and the like as weapons and some even have nukes.

I don’t expect die hards to get it, will of the people is such an overused phrase, but the reality is leaving the EU will screw the majority of the population for decades to come but by some fluke people like Mogg will benefit hugely. Funny that.

"it was just advisory" the diatribe of your typical ********.

Governance by vote shouldn't be a thing. How do you think MPs decide major issues, new laws etc.

By voting.

Which age group was this person in? Please tell me they were at least 55+. Not that that would make it ok, but I despair such nonsense coming from the younger generations.

Are they aware that empire was built upon military invasion, aka killing for resources?

Unfortunately he’s 42. We get on very well in most things and we don’t discuss brexit much. He’s actually an alright person but he does have some strange views.

That's exactly how democracy is meant to work...

Any result can be superceded by a later one. It would be undemocratic to forbid people from voting a certain way, or forbid parties from tabling certain issues.

I'm not sure who I'd vote for.

My area (South Staffs) has been tory for as long as I've lived here (12 years) and due to the lack of any credible alternative, I've voted for Gavin Williamson in the past.

I'm NHS, and as Mr Williamson voted against NHS pay rises last year, he sure as hell won't be getting my vote next time around.

I think it was Major who said this could be the silent killer of the Tories.

For my part, I do have a feeling the country is wanting a change after 8 years of Tory rule.
Well for the hundreds of thousands of people who rely on out of work and disability benefits, I think it’s fair to say that it’s a far bigger issue than brexit for them.

I often find myself in the same conundrum so go green.

Same here......I would never vote tory because of the damage they've done to the NHS and their scarily stupid belief that a trade deal with Trump would be a good thing instead of canceling brexit and continuing trading with Europe. My borough voted overwhelmingly to remain and then our labour mp voted to trigger article 50, putting party before representing the will of her constituents in parliament!

I'd be hard pressed to vote for any of them, maybe Lib Dems but that is pretty much a wasted vote and there are a few areas I can't support them on. I hate the lack of a "this isn't working" option for our democracy - spoiled ballot doesn't really count unless like everyone in the country did it.

Absolutely couldn't vote for Labour with some of the current movers and shakers in the party - beyond Corbyn, etc. there are also some really nasty characters that have pushed their way up the ranks of late. If the Tories were to table halting Brexit I might have to vote for them through gritted teeth as I think even that would be less bad than Brexit.

This is kind of my feeling, i'm fairly central with my political views, but i just couldn't vote for labour whilst they have that clown leading them.

Yes but they have to vote, and the apathy, as seen in this thread, is real. I feel a total disconnect with any political party currently.

I still don't understand the issue with UC. It's because of a delayed first payment?

This is worth a watch:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0bs39ky

It's not so much that Universal Credit is bad. It's just not working properly, leaving people without money that they need (either due to late payments, incorrect calculations, or "fines"). The government are failing to consider the impact the system is having on the daily lives of people, and just babble on about how it'll be sorted eventually.

VOTE NONE

Don't like any political party and wont be voting until one produces a policy more in line with my wishes/beliefs

You mean the vote which was based on a pack of lies, and the "will of the people" which by recent polls has shifted the other way since the reality of the situation has become apparent?

Seems like a perfectly valid position to me...

I honestly don't see the point in voting any more, whichever circus of idiots gets in is just going to do what's best to line their own pockets whilst trying to make out they're working for the good of the country, so I might just have a nice hot curry the night before and then use the ballot paper to wipe my ****, to at least give an accurate representation of the candidates
