Virgin Media Discussion Thread

My copper isn't great, getting 55/17 with Plusnet which I understand about the copper etc etc but I signed up for the 80/20 so I could get more than 10Mb upload. Would be looking at taking the "full" 350/20 with VM.
You may find that your existing FTTC day to day is better than VMs network, which can be heavily congested.

Virgin Media's (cable) business service is awful. The Hitron CPE is underpowered, and if you opt for a static IP then you end up inside a GRE tunnel to kit that doesn't have the poke to run one properly.

I think VM are incredibly lucky at the moment that FTTC has topped out in terms of speeds, and the FTTP/G.fast deployment is at the early stages of ramping up, because the impression I get is that their network is falling to pieces.

I just left VM to go with Talktalk, starting to think it's been a big mistake, not hitting miniumum speeds, ping spikes through wifi. I can use wired, but I also have an Xbox and PS4 in the living so if it's affecting my PC then i'm sure the ping spikes through wifi will be affecting my consoles. I've reset everything and nothing.

With VM for over 10 years and not one issue, Tt less than a week and i'm pulling my balls off.

I'd hate to go bsck.

Poor design and implementation from the start is really starting to show now. Compounded by issues that were not really their fault (Super Hub 3) but still symptomatic of their poor decision making near the very top.

I had a conversation a while back with a telecoms consultant engineer who helped design networks in a few Scandinavian and Baltic countries and he said how poor the design was in this country alluding to the poor maximum uploads we can get here in the U.K..

Anyone having problems today?

SH3 is connected to internet, my router also says connected, improper time stamp in the errors, rebooted hub and router a couple of times.
Running off the Uddingston headend.
Thanks.

That does seem very high, maybe they have black friday deals to come and thats why they've put them up.

I have 350 and basic tv last year for £44 for reference.

well if it drops under £50 this week i'll sign in a heartbeat,

anyone VM sales staff on here want an easy sale?

It's dawning on me how much I spend on TV and Internet. I have Virgin vivid 200mb at £37 a month and I have Sky Q TV with two boxes and movies for £45 a month.

I don't really like Virgin TV so that's why I keep them separate.

Is there much scope for me saving money with similar?

There is nothing similar to Sky Q. VM TV is pretty pants.

I had a feeling that might be the case. It's a shame virgin can't seem to compete with Sky TV. I haven't experienced Virgins new box but the old one was crap.

New box is better but still not a patch on Sky. Tempted to cancel my TV and phone, hardly ever watch "normal" TV these days and dont use the phone.

Annoyingly virgin have an offer on for £44 to give me 350mb Internet and basic tv. That's a good price. But unfortunately we do kinda love having sky TV.

The dream would be sky and virgin broadband for about 50 quid
