THX tv distance 55" 4k

The above link states if you sit 7 feet or further away from a 55" TV you may as well buy 1080p it wants you to sit 3 feet away from a 55 inch.

So I would use common sense

THX is concerned with immersion really not resolution, IIRC it's between 26-36 degrees.

This does it http://myhometheater.homestead.com/viewingdistancecalculator.html

So 55" is 6ft-9ft, ish. I'd personally go for the lower end of that for movies.
From that link my 65" is

Recommended THX viewing distance is 7.3 feet
And 10.2 feet Maximum THX viewing distance

what
only 8.5 feet for Maximum Viewing Distance for HDTV(Fully resolved 1080i; 1920 x 1080)

Yes? Sound OK to me? THX are concerned with movie immersion, an image which takes up 36 degrees of your fov is what they aim for so that's what you get. Would you go to a cinema and want to sit 200 feet away?

But thats for a 1080i resolution, so 4k would be a lot less.

Again, THX spec immersion not visual acuity. Resolution doesn't matter, what is the correct size/distance to provide an immersive experience?

THX think this is 40 degrees (front row), to 36 degrees (back row).
