8700k or 9700k ? Gaming and streaming build

Ok guys.
Currently in process of refreshing my current setup. I have recently purchased an Asus Hero X board which I've found out can support the 9th gen series CPU's after a BIOS flash.

Originally was going to go for the 8700k but now I'm in a dilema if I should go for the 9700k instead.

What would you recommend?
6c/12t or 8c/8t ?

I stream with SLOBS using NVENC

8700k if you don't want a mobo swap.

It does but from what I've read (not had a play with 9xxxk yet), z370 is pretty restrictive with 9th gen /vrm. Probably alright if left stock though I'd guess....

Does streaming not take advantage of HT?

Hmm I see, I'd definitely overclock.
Not quite sure can't find anything online to point towards to the fact it's necessary or I would see a major impact from lack of it
