If doing that then you could buy a back panel port mount rather than an entire card.Or just forget the need to have them at the front of the case and use a straight up 3.1 gen PCI-E card and plug in what you need to round the back of the PC. What devices are you using that need the new gen? If the back port solution is inconvenient you could always run a USB extension, or two(gen appropriate) out that back port for easier access. Cost wise you'll probably pay less using a card and a couple of cables vs the over-priced front panel options(as nice and convenient as they may be).
