Vega 64 performing very badly..

Mine doesn't the I have tried and failed everything. Max I can get is 1550/1050

1000mv on all voltage settings.
Anything higher needs more voltage and then the hot-spot gets to hot and the GPU down clocks resulting in worse performance.

I have wasted so meany hours with my Vega to the point I feel like I have countless amount of experience with the reference design.

If you cut to 1000mv you must raise power limit to +50%, and also P7 needs at least +25mv over the P6 to work properly the curve.

Yeah forgot to say I also use 50+ power limit.

My GPU LED is the indicator that what pstate the GPU is running at. I get all lights lit 24/7 not a singe drop.

Like I said nothing I did would get me max pstate without effecting performance or temperature.

My settings. Anything else all gets messed up.

Not at pc atm
By everything gets messed up I mean.

If I higher the voltage the hotspot gets hotter and then the GPU will just down clock, resulting in worst performance for a few extra mhz on the core.

If I lower the voltage to try and get lower temps the GPU will crash driver because not enough voltage.

The great thing about Vega is the led lights on the GPU they tell you everything you need to know about how the GPU is performing.

If the lights are bouncing all above the place then the GPU is struggling to maintain high pstate
 
Sorry everyone just reinstalling windows in Uefi mode right now as I unintentionally installed it in Legacy (CSM) enabled. Maybe this will make a difference. Failing that, I Will try some of the things suggested and report back later tonight. For some reason my Windows updates are taking quite a while.

The first 2 mistakes you have done.
a) You set the Target temp to 85C, you should set it to 65C-70C
b) All 3 power settings are the same. The system won't create a curve but a flat line
you need to set
i) the power under the HBM to 1000 - thats the floor power for all States not the HBM.
ii) P7 has to be around +25mv higher than P6. In your case 1025 and 1050 respectively
iii) Leave the clocks to default.

Alternative use the settings I posted above. Everyone else said they are great improving performance and cutting heat, noise and power.

I'll provide you detailed feedback over the weekend to show you I have tried everything you can imagine.

I have countless test profiles saved, nothing worked. It either resulted in higher hot-spot temp followed by lower clock speeds or driver crash.

Like I said what I done here is the only fix I have managed to achieve to get lower temps and keep a solid P7 state between 1500/1580

Target temperature must be set to 85c already my GPU gets to 75c if I set 65c then I would get worst performance because the GPU would down clock to achieve 65c

Edit
Note the target temperature is only for the core. The most important part of Vega is the hot-spot of this is high you won't get high speeds.
 
lol running 65c being high, I’ll sit around that with 1200rpm fan or so, would need considerably more to cool way below that.

Also that’s using many of your settings posted Panos

you need to up fan speeds then, you shouldn't set target to 85c because thats the MAX temp. Sounds like you got bad thermal paste or something on the card.

I have the VEGA Ref design I thought all VEGA GPUs have the LEDs on them.

Not my video but this is what I trying to explain. This isn't good them LED should be a solid all lit at P7 state that means the GPU is boosting at its max clock. Looking at that video I would guess based on them lights that GPU is running around 1300/1400

This might well be your problem> Seasonic Issues Warning: FOCUS PLUS PSU has GPU Compatibility Issues-

FOCUS PLUS & Vega 56/64: For units with serial numbers before January 2018, in rare instances, possible system shutdown may occur when GPU is under heavy load. This is possibly caused by higher than normal peak current emitted by this particular range of GPU's when under heavy load triggering the PSU’s internal protection safety.
