My LG G4 is doing me well but I want something with a bigger screen, more powerful and snappier, and more upto date OS. Got my eye on an Honor 8X or Honor 10 View. Thing is the specs on my camera are better on paper; better aperture, lens size only lacking in MP but that isn't as important.

Do these modern phones have some sort of software processing that makes photos look better?

Lens size? What do you mean.

Aperture size is important but 1.8 and under is fine. Its all about sensor size and post processing. Obviously OIS helps too.

Went for the Honor 8X and comes with a 128GB MicroSD card for £216, if its good enough for @Kreeeee its good enough for me

I hope you like it. I am extremely impressed with the battery life on it, particularly the screen off time where I drop 2-3% over an 8 hour period overnight.

It comes with a screen protector and case which I am still using as they're pretty decent. I bought a pair of glass screen protectors for when the plastic one gets scuffed up but it's holding up very well so far.

Mine should be arriving today. I've seen the Honor Viewing 10 has dropped to £280, if thr camera on the 8X isn't up to scratch I'll return it and get the that one .

After 24 hours with it I'm overall happy with it. The screen is really nice and punchy, performance is very fast and the fingerprint scanner is really cool.

The camera let's it down though, indoor lighting shots are grainy and the detail is missing compared to my LG g4. Might try third party apps and see if they help.

Nothing around £200 will be any good. The closest you would have gotten would have been a 1st Gen pixel or the XZ1

Yeah come to that realisation, all the reviews showed indoor pictures looking clean and decent detail too. But in reality their grainy and coliurs are over exaggerated.

I was going to wait and see if the one plus 6 would come down in price but even at £450 FROM Chinatown it's too much.

I think you'd still be disappointed. For indoor stuff, you're probably going to want some form on night mode - it really helps reduce noise. Artificial/poor lighting really kills smartphone cameras. It's the most difficult to get right :/

Night mode might get ported to other devices through the google camera app - keep an eye out :)

Most likely will find it on a snapdragon based device I believe - easier to port over
