looking to put together an AMD SFF build in the next month or so but the Mboard range seems slim pickings. Hoping to jump into Zen 2 when that becomes available next year so figure I should invest in the best ITX Mboard I can right now however there are so few options compared to Intel.

Apart from needing an Optical audio out port and NVME M2 slot I am not that picky. Not fussed by particular brand or cost.

Any recommendations? Thanks.

I only found 1 ITX motherboard with an optical output on it, all the others had very basic audio outputs, seems to have a very good audio on it too: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/asro...-am4-ddr4-mini-itx-motherboard-mb-16a-ak.html

M.2 slot is around the back

Many thanks, much appreciated. So best I can hope for seems to be a B450 board. Surprised there aren’t more 470 choices. Optical or not.

Have you considered using a USB solution? This would give you a much wider range of motherboard options, the ASUS X470-I with Dual M.2 slots lacks a digital out but I rather feel that using an inferior motherboard option that won’t give the sound quality you probably want anyway:
