Traci Redford and her daughter, Abcde (pronounced ab-si-dee), were en route home to El Paso, Texas, from California's John Wayne Airport when a Southwest Airlines' Gate Agent allegedly began laughing and took a photo of the child's boarding pass and posted it online.
Why on Earth would anyone name their child after the first five letters of the alphabet?
Maybe she already had children called Qwertyuiop and Aeiou . . .

sure the stupidest parents ever, probably thought they could get some financial gain out of it from early learning sponsors or something.

must feel nice when you realise your parents couldn't be bothered to decide on a name so just took the first 5 letters from the alphabet instead.

They could have atleast gone with qwerty and made up some ridiculous pronunciation

The DM headline included the fact that she has epilepsy. Like that had anything to do with it...

I think the proposition that it is child abuse - or at the very least a form of neglect - is perfectly reasonable. It's certainly not what I'd call responsible parenting.

:edit: I don't really know what that means though. When I say this, I mean I don't know what I think, if anything, should be done about it.

Isn't this simply a case of parents giving their kid a weird name so they don't have to buy stupid souvenirs with names on from gift shops? :D

Except there are 328 people in the US with the name abcde so i guess being an idiot parent is a bit common lol

I wouldn't call it child abuse because I don't think that the age is relevant. If an employee doesn't know how to pronounce a name, just kindly ask. Instead, Southwest made a mockery of this and they got what they deserved - bad press.
