Hi I think like everybody else trying to make a few extra £££ from somewhere, markets/bitcoin/matchbetting etc....

Have spent around a week now watching/learning how to buy from suppliers then ship to Amazon to sell.

A guy on YouTube (UK) sells a course and he explains everything.

The question is, has anybody on here gone down this route and has it worked out?

Idea here is long term 1year to quit the 9-5 rubbish.

/If its easy why isn't everybody doing it?

Because it isn't that easy, there's a lot of competition and it requires betting whatever career path one has going currently on the chance that Amazon's operations remain the way they are into the future.

Everybody IS doing it and that's precisely why it's not easy.

If it's a halfway legit product, Amazon probably sell it themselves and can buy it cheaper than you can.

If it's random Chinese junk, you've almost certainly been beaten to it by 25 other people before you even thought about it.

Generally if someone is selling you the instructions for an easy money making venture, it's a fairly safe bet it won't be making money easily.

That's probably why they're scamming people by selling instructions on how to buy and sell things rather than just rolling in the piles of money they've made from their easy scheme of buying and selling.

I think the idea of buying random stuff then sending it direct to Amazon to sell is not what I am talking about, and will not work.

I am talking about messaging manufactures to change packaging designs/product size & branding etc.. Its easy as its working from home not having to move from a chair? This guy has 430 members @ £495 per course. Insane figures.

Seems very tempting, I don't think its a scam?

That's called dropshipping.

Its hard to find something Amazon don't sell direct, plus isn't already bottom price through a 3rd party seller. If you do find such a product then its incredibly easy for either Amazon or another seller to undercut you.

Amazon also seems to rotate who the main seller is, think I read somewhere its done on stock priority but as its a catalogue listing you can suddenly find yourself not being the main seller, means reviews can also dive as not all sellers are equal (counterfeit stock being sold as genuine etc).

It's interesting reading about what they are doing in the USA with them now allowing (and actively encouraging) Chinese sellers to ship stock to US Amazon warehouses for fulfilment. Obviously the US sellers hate that as it removes the main obstacle of shipping times and they can't compete with Chinese prices as they probably bought the stock at the same price.

Extremely competitive, high fees and tight margins.

In the unlikely event you find something truly unique and it sells really well it may make you some money ... Until Amazon goes to the supplier direct and cuts you out.

Unless of course you design and patent / trademark your own brand / product and invest in marketing etc.

Like most things of this nature you have to begin by asking yourself why Amazon themselves aren't all over it. Why would a company like them leave it to others? Because there's no money in it.

Again, with all these course things, if their strategy is so successful then why are they selling courses? Because it's not successful, that's why.

Maybe not a scam in the strictest sense of the word but 'rip off' is possibly more accurate. The guy is evidently making his money by selling a 'get rich quick' promise to people at £500 a time, rather than 'messaging manufacturers to change packaging' whatever that's supposed to mean. If the actual idea was sufficiently profitable, he wouldn't be mugging people off for £500 courses on how to 'message manufacturers', he'd surely be focusing his efforts on the actual idea?

I don't think he's talking about drop shipping, I think he's on about having his own 'brand' of products - you know how if you search for say a 'USB C Cable' you'll see 400 different crap cables - he wants to be number 401 with a 'pokerking USB C Cable' or whatever particular products he elects to try and go to market with.

I'm guessing he's been reading sites like this - https://andrewminalto.com/start-amazon-business/

That is what I'm assuming and/or like with Alibaba etc. where you can get companies to put together a "white box" bespoke version of a product and slap your own label on it, etc. hence why you see essentially the same item being sold under 100 different generic brands on Amazon, etc. sometimes with some slight differences.

EDIT: Ah I see Alibaba, etc. is referenced in that link.
