thoughts / opinions ?

To add another to the list, Mazda3 2.0 Sport? Not the fastest thing but with a simple 2.0 naturally aspirated engine and torque converter gearbox it should be reliable long term, looks good inside and out, and plenty of equipment. It's what I'll probably be changing my Focus mk3 for when the time comes.

looks nice
the only thing i dont see in the list, is auto collision braking

I suppose theirs always the 2017 model about the same price as the other cars :

was you thinking of this or the earlier model?

EDIT /

Automatics are only available on the 2018 model ?

The model you posted is the one I'm taking about and exists from 2014 onwards model - they are definitely available with auto boxes on the 120hp 2.0 petrols and the 150hp 2.2 diesels (the more powerful 165hp petrol is manual only).

Auto braking is available on these, it's called Smart City Brake Support and is listed under "safety features" on the one you posted above

Can vouch for the Leon FR MK3 well equipped and comfortable. Though personally would go for vrs. I went with Leon FR st in the end.

hey all, i am bringing this up again, spoke to my dad just 2 days ago, and hes like "if you want another car then its up to you"

(hes the mechanic so would look round the car)

so i am looking right now, maybe in the spring/summer i'll change my car

requirements :

mid-sized car (currently drive a Focus 2009, so about the same size as this)
All mod-cons (at least the majority) parking sensors Front and back, HID lights, Automatic Collision Braking, DRL's, USB socket for music, Bluetooth hands free calling minimum)
Good on Fuel
Low tax as possible (under £200 if poss)
Reliable
Hoping to keep the car for like 10 + years so reliability is a major factor in 10 years time as well as short term
Automatic
Under 9 seconds to 60
5 doors

so far i've come up with :

Seat Leon :

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201901053657953?minimum-badge-engine-size=1.4&transmission=Automatic&maximum-badge-engine-size=1.6&body-type=Hatchback&make=SEAT&onesearchad=Used&onesearchad=Nearly New&onesearchad=New&model=LEON&sort=price-asc&radius=1500&postcode=ox394je&fuel-type=Petrol&year-from=2015&quantity-of-doors=5&advertising-location=at_cars&page=1

later model:

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201901033605184?body-type=Hatchback&quantity-of-doors=5&minimum-badge-engine-size=1.4&year-from=2015&sort=price-asc&make=SEAT&model=LEON&transmission=Automatic&fuel-type=Petrol&advertising-location=at_cars&maximum-badge-engine-size=1.6&onesearchad=Used&onesearchad=Nearly New&onesearchad=New&postcode=ox394je&radius=1500&page=2

Ford Focus :
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201812073081637?sort=price-asc&advertising-location=at_cars&quantity-of-doors=5&make=FORD&model=FOCUS&transmission=Automatic&fuel-type=Petrol&aggregatedTrim=Titanium X&maximum-badge-engine-size=1.6&year-from=2015&minimum-badge-engine-size=1.4&postcode=ox394je&radius=1500&onesearchad=Used&onesearchad=Nearly New&onesearchad=New&body-type=Hatchback&page=1

Question, is the Leon that much better in Fuel than the Focus ???

im also seeing 2 MPG figues for the same Focus 180 1.5, 33MPG and 40.4MPG (both autos) ?

A bit of a wild card but how about a Volvo V60, yes it's an estate but I've got one at the moment at it's far more refined than a majority of hatchbacks.

didnt even consider a Volvo tbh
i know the XC90 is a cracking car (my sister has one with her family)

I've currently got a Volvo V60 it's fully specced; adaptive radar cruise control, sunroof, reversing camera, lane departure warning, front and rear sensors and it has the sporty R design trim suspension and seats. Also it has the 5 cylinder diesel unit which is well known to go beyond 250k with no troubles.

I'm actually thinking of getting rid of mine soon, I might be changing jobs soon and might only be driving 15 miles a day or even a train commute so no car needed. the only thing it doesn't meet on your list is that it's manual (which is rare).

so far then,

Ford Focus 1.5 ecoboost (180) Titanium X (2015 on)
Seat Leon 1.4 TSI FR (150) / FR Technology (2015 on) or even a 2017 ?)
Volvo V40 T3 1.5 (150)

im starting to lean towards the Leon if im honest
due to the £30 tax, great on fuel and its based on the Audi A3 & Golf
DSG gearbox to

thoughts ?
