Thames Water - dug up beautiful bricks....replaced with cement.

I had a water issue that was caused by faulty Thames Water equipment. They couldn't turn of the stop valve (it kept spinning) so a team had to come out and make a small hole to replace.

However, rather than replacing the bricks they appear to have lost some and used cement! The brickwork was lovely and now the whole thing just looks awful.

I'm not someone who has ever dug up anything but surely this number of bricks can't be lost?

Thames Water are arranging for a call back but they did say this is their standard practice. Should I raise it with the housing developer/maintenance people?

Opinions?

I've got to say, while it'd be better if they'd replaced the bricks, that's a helluva neat job of cementing it that they've done.

I suspect once it;s dry, it'll match up quite nicely.

Id have thought the cement would dry and look decent enough.

Although I appreciate people on the Thames have far more money than I do so expect a better service.

What? It looks pretty nice otherwise. Certainly better than tarmac.

It's awful. Tiny cuts all over the place and they've used the wrong sand you can see it washing out, broken slabs and poorly cut slabs. Weeds, chipped and broken slabs.

Give it a few more years it'll be a right mess.

have some sympathy for Thames Water, were they handed-off a poison chalice by the site developers, so some optmisation on repair costs might be appropriate,
(was wondering how long before the trees roots will break out of their partitions)

Yep, as said above, the years aren't going to be kind to that surface, typical style over function.

Why? These are new builds finished April this year. It's Thames Water who laid the water pipes about 8 months ago, it's Thames Water who had a fault (I was without *any* water for a weekend). It's Thames Water who dug it up and had as long as they wanted to put it back down again.

This place is all new.

Edit: Just seen the '....were they....'. The above reply is not meant to be too aggressive towards you :D

So it's fine to **** it up.

Typical builder-type attitude. Shortcuts at every opportunity to get down to the pub quicker. That's why they're utility lackeys and not engineers.
