now coming from a 40 meg connection from sky I'm almost moved to tears. can't wait to see how it is over a proper wired network :) :)

I've been disconnected for about a month now and no one has collected the box or superhub, how long is long enough to dispose of them myself?

If you've got an older Super Hub they will probably tell you to bin it but if you have a SH3 or a V6 Tivo box then more than likely they will require it back and charge you if not returned. They no longer collect but send out some packaging for you to use with Collect+

We both had older kit - SH2 etc.

Had b/band 100, big tv 24/7 & phone 24/7 'free' 01, 02, 03 calls. Price increase up to £70ish.
Called to cancel tv part5. They called back & offered same service but £53 p/m.
Refused that.
They called again and offered everything including big tv for £52 p/m and up-speed to "Vivid 200" b/b.
Apart from cost increases with just more HD channels of existing channels and even more ruddy football, I have bee fairly satisfied with WM.
BUT...- I will be dropping the tv part at the end of contract, even though I'll miss BTSport Motop GP coverage!

What is big TV? Is that with Sky Cinema and Sky Sport? I've been offered £52pm for Full House bundle with 100mb/s and weekend phone... should I take? I've been generally happy over the past 12 months, and Sky is still more expensive even with new customer offers.

Hi Stu
My Virgin package is-
Full House TV (XL) with V6 Box.
Vivid 200 b/band.
Virgin landline phone with Talk More Anytime. ((60 minutes @free' to UK landline numbers).
Total £53 per month. ( I mis-remembered in my above post).
The Tv does not include Sky Movies or Sky Sport but it does have BT Sport1, 2, 3 & HD versions, too.
The TiVo V6 box is a mixed blessing compared to the older V+ box. It's slower to find/ do everything. Doesn't have a simple listing page for your planned recordings. You have to flick thru all of the on-screen listings and try to spot the tiny R symbol or (what looks like a pile of dvds for single episode/ programmes or series recordings. Don't get me started on deletions that don't!
I'm thankful that I only watch Moto GP bike racing (BTSport2) through the season. SWMBO likewise happy- she gets all, I mean ALL, the drama series!
The big things with Virgin?
No call-out charges.
No repair charges.
No equipment costs. It's all theirs.
In my experience over 15 years, a reliable service.
Hope this helps.

Stu
Further to the above.
This is a 12 month deal, offered to keep me signed-up. Goes up to £ 83p/m at end of deal.
I'll be haggling again :D

Yes it does show planned recordings in one place. Home Button -> My Shows and Recordings -> My Planned Recordings.

Crikey! I didn't know that :o. Thank you.
Just got to rewrite my Idiot Guide Crib-sheet! Learning, learning, alla time learning. (A Dick Emery & Michael Bentine reference from waaay back).
Have you a way to actually delete a prog just once?

What do you mean exactly? You can delete a single planned recording either from the "My Planned Recordings" by hitting the "clear" button on the bottom left of the remote. I think you can do the same on the EPG or maybe you can just select it in the EPG to get the change/delete option window up. It doesn't affect your series links if you delete just the one planned recording.

I must be confused...
On old V+ box; Delete after watching or delete from Planned list and the recording was gone.
On TiVo V6 box. We watch it. Then select 'Delete'.
It then moves to 'Recently deleted...'
Then in 'Recently deleted...' individually delete each title to finally delete.
Thank you for the input, I'll go check your route when she finishes Midwives.
Why is there so much screaming in that/ those series?

I checked; you are partially correct in that the "Clear" key deletes a single prog from the "Shows.." list.
But then it parks that single prog into the "Recently deleted.." folder, which then requires deleting from there in order to actually delete it. Unless you leave the V6 box to delete the contents of the "Recently deleted..." when the V6 box requires the capacity for more recordings. Perfectly fine if that's your way. Problem is me. My ocd wants to keep stuff clear and tidy. Now in the progress of Final Deletions of 98 already once deleted progs!

Using the "Clear" key on a single episode of a series brings-up these:
"Delete everything in this folder"
"Delete recording & replace with bookmark"
"Delete everything and cancel series link"
"Cancel (don't do anything)"

I'm sure it was easier when the Virgin Man swapped my V+ for the V6 and demonstrated how to operate it!

Further to my previous.
V6 box allows Smart TV only if b/band connected to tv,. Thus, unconnected means no Callback.
That was not the case with V+.

Just leave the stuff in recently deleted. It isn't counted when the box tells you how full it is, and the things in there are automatically deleted if/when it needs the space. It's like a Windows trashcan that tidys itself up as necessary.

There is a requirement for some of those new features for the V6 to be able to talk to the Superhub. It can be wired if it's close or you are networked, but it can also do this wirelessly through wifi between the Tivo and the Superhub.

@Lokwyr Thanks for the extra detail. Sounds like you've got a slightly better deal than me having faster bb (200 vs 100) and better phone (I've only got free weekends to landlines), and you are only paying £1 more per month; but it seems rare for two people to get the exact same deal when haggling at end of contract (don't know why, I would expect a common base level that you can drive them down to).

The V6 box isn't a touch on the Sky boxes, but I've got sufficiently used to it over the past year.

Fortunately, I don't watch much (except for Moto GP bikes during the season). If I miss an event- so I missed it! Ref the different costs. People I talk with- nobody gets the same deal unless you don't argue with VM !

Self emptying facility accepted, but my O.C.D. has other imperatives:rolleyes:

Noticed speeds have been down in a evening last week, spoken to VM this morning and surprise surprise:

VM Support said:
I have checked the details for you and can see that the part of the network you are connected to gets congested at peak times because of very heavy traffic. In some instances its when part of the network is over subscribed.
We are working on upgrading the cabinets in your area to improve the service, the current estimated time to fix the issue is 24/04/2019 12.05 F006605232.

Given me a £10 credit off my monthly bill for the loss of speed in a evening but I have to speak to VM every month to get that applied.
