Bringing family member from outside UK

My guess would be the thread is a wind up :p

There has been an influx of controversial one post specials in last 3 weeks or so of that there is no question. This one seems to have been around for a while to be fair, but there does seem to be an influx of 'people' who are perhaps familiar with the way of this forum and that is odd.

I am more worried I am sharing the forum with unemployed people?

Tell me it ain't so.....well unless they are the ones who do a bit of gardening on the side as I don't want my rates to go up.
20000+ postcount=unemployed.

And on topic, I'm not sure being an EU citizen counts for much does it, in a case like this?

That is true, moving countries within the EU specifically to seek medical treatment isn't part of the ehic. Unfortunatelu I don't know the minutiae and not sure if it's covered by any other agreements

There are much, much bigger reasons as to why it's in the state it's in that isn't health tourism.
But it is one of the reasons so let's not just point somewhere else, let's address all aspects, yes?

'Yes but arguments' the paralysis of decision.

I'm not saying it isn't, what I am saying is its reletively small compared to say binge drinking that costs the NHS roughly £5b compared to the £300m of health tourism, so saying this is the reason the NHS is in such a mess in inflammatory and ignorant to the bigger problems.

but it adds to the problem so much..]
It's actually very small in comparison. £300m sounds like a lot until you realise their annual budget is well over £100 billion.

I don't disagree but you miss the point really. My point is you can paint the wall white in 2 minutes or you can spend 20 years debating how to split the atom pulling the 2 blokes off the white wall painting because well, this atom over here needs work. Constant focus on the big stuff means the small stuff, the quick wins get missed so often. The paralysis of which I speak and so often the issue with debates on forums/business. People 'yea but' every point and in doing so, fix nothing. It is the same as fearing making a mistake. Let's do nothing just in case...

I don't disagree with your sentiment.

Health tourism costs 0.3% of NHS spending.

No it doesnt. We don't know the full figure because the best the goverment can offer us is a 'rough' estimate!

https://fullfact.org/health/health-tourism-whats-cost/

From this source ...

It’s difficult to put a figure on exactly how much “health tourism” costs the NHS. 0.3% reflects the upper end of the government’s rough estimates of “deliberate health tourism” and visitors “taking advantage” of the system

So it's only a figure the goverment estimates for 'deliberate health tourism/ taking advantage of the system ' I. E thoose that attend the UK for the purpose of solely/primarily obtaining health care....

I don't trust goverment 'rough estimates' when it comes to immigration because they are all too often directed by ideology and wildly wrong...

(like this one where they were wrong with an actual figure twenty times the 'rough estimate')

Thank you all for your comments. Not surprised with some replies. I will not argue with them.

I forgot to mention that she is from an EU country.

I have been investing this and I have now an idea on how to proceed and get a more precise information.

Thanks and if the management feel like this post is useless, which is because 90% didn't contribute towards answering the question I posed, feel free to delete it.

BR.
