Intel Core i7-9700K 3.6GHz (Coffee Lake) Socket LGA1151
Gigabyte Z370 AORUS Gaming 7 Optane Intel Z370 (Socket 1151) DDR4 ATX

I've purchased the above, knowing full well that it needed a BIOS update to be full supported. But I can't get it to actually post (or display anything) to do the upgrade. Has anyone managed this? I nievely thought it would allow me to POST and complete the update :(

The gigabyte forums aren't conclusive as to whether this is actually possible or not.
The Board codes are utterly useless, as the manual only lists 'good codes' AND / OR error codes are listed as 'system reserved'.

I've tried memory, reset CMOS, with / without GPU.

Nope, not a chance, the board will only post with a supported CPU and your CPU isnt supported until you upgrade the bios.

As above, you'll need an 8 series CPU to update the bios or return the board and buy a Z390 instead.

Same reason we will see all those posts soon about people who buy a RyZen 3000 but a B450 / X470 motherboard but dont have the previous generation CPU and wonder why its not working.

silver lining, if you've board a board new and Latest Chipset, Gigabyte I believe will flash it for free for you, have to post it off to them but rep mentioned it a few times for owners with b350/x370 buying new with ryzen 2*** cpus

hopefully rep and clarify and lend a hand

Thats good to know, shortly after posting the above though I realized, most B450 and X470 boards now come with bios flashback so you dont need a CPU or anything in it at all to flash the bios.
