Guys I sold some speakers on eBay where I specifically said UK shipping only .

They sold to a guy with positive feedback and gave me a business address in London to post them to , I did advertise as courier delivery but thought ok this is on my way to work so I’ll drop them off myself. I just can’t trust couriers .

So i packaged them up and labelled them as described and took them to this address , this address turns out to be a shipping company for Chinese Imports and Exports . Looking at the buyers profile he is indeeed based in `China .

Now I’m under the impression that my liability stops in the UK but if anything now happenens to them in transit from the UK to China what potential issues could I have from PayPal ?

I did get a signature from someone at the shipping company and took pictures of the depot .

Any thought ?

I've just had a similar thing whereby the delivery address is for a mail forwarding company directed towards Singapore. I've emailed Ebay to see what they suggest my liability is and will post when i get a response.

Ebay/Paypal always side with the buyer. To be honest, I doubt a human gets involved these days. It seems very automated to me. Buyer makes a complaint, system automatically refunds them.

I see paypal now puts the money on hold until the buyer is happy. Quite shocking really.

Stopped using ebay months ago.

what has your post got to do with what the op has asked?

ironically your post seems automated - it's the same old one that appears on every ebay thread (not necessarily posted by you though)

Bit surprised you went ahead, after discovering address significance - I usually googlemap addresses of most shops I use on ebay to authenticate them

I would be pre-emptively contacting paypal/ebay and posting a picture of your parcel as it was handed over.

I would check with ebay. But I would also use a courier to the UK address. You want to have proof of delivery to their address.

I've had this.

I sent my item via recorded delivery to a UK distributor who signed for the item and then sent it on to Egypt. My understanding is once they have signed for it they take responsibility for its condition.

Thought that was pretty obvious

and yet people continue to use them, and then post their tale of woes on here. Rinse and repeat...rinse and repeat...rinse and repeat.

I'd agree with Hades, although it might very well be a legit buyer you'd have been better off posting recorded using a courier. The problem is if he claims not to have received them because you didn't post them, you'll then have to deal with Ebay support who like with most other big corporations these days have support personnel who act like a very basic AI going through a 10 point check list and anything out of the ordinary will bamboozle them.

What proof of delivery to the import/export place did you get exactly? an official signed document with all of the details of the recipient? it might not be too bad if so.

maybe it's a new thing they are testing, I've read a few people have had it on here. The mrs got hit over the weekend and she's been selling stuff since the dark ages. Unless it's purchases from iffy buyers? god knows

What happens if you click that "Get Your Money Sooner" link?

I think they only hold it if you're unverified, and therefore a higher risk.

Is that verified on ebay though or paypal too?

My wording might be off, but there's some kind of verification with Paypal which stops them holding your money.

To save starting yet another eBay thread....

I bought a handbag for the missus for Xmas, paid the winning amount but then the seller said I hadn't sent the postage fee and that the free postage she advertised only applied to Belgium.

I sent her a screen shot of the advert that displayed worldwide shipping and free shipping but there's now radio silence.

I offered to compromise on the shipping costs (I have no idea about handbags but know she wants this one so I was prepared to pay a little extra just to get it) and still got nothing back.

Sent another message asking to contact me as I'd prefer to settle this amicably, still nothing.

Is it even worth raising a case with eBay now?

I've had this, in my opinion Paypal do it to everybody from time to time, under the guise of 'security' which actually means - slowing down transactions so they stay in their account for longer and make more interest. But then again I hate Paypal.

The fastest way to get the money, is to call them with the tracking number, if it's been delivered they'll release the money 24 hours after it was delivered and not before, if you don't do this it'll usually be 21 days.

If you go on their help page, and click the "contact us" button, followed by "call us" you'll get a 6 digit passcode, call up with that and it seems to get you through quicker.
